Kirkland Dry Food?

So I've read a couple of posts about Kirkland brand dog food recommending it since it is economically viable. But is it good though cause I don't want to feed my dog just because it'll hurt my pocket though if it is a good food it'll be great since I can get it here where I live cause everything else is just either Pedigree, Purina, or Ol'Roy Brands.

Also I checked it on dog food analysis says 3 starts but I really dont know what I should be looking for in the food besides whichever has more start is best

I tend to tell people if you can afford better there IS better however, nutrition versus price it is absolutely the best "bang for your buck" so to speak. I feed it to my guest dogs and my fosters and I'd have no problem feeding it personally to my own dogs if my boy wasn't allergic to gluten. If it is in your price range, you can get it, and you have a Costco membership, IMO there isn't anything wrong with it. It is leaps and bounds better than Dog Chow, Pedigree, etc. There's really nothing "nasty" in it, it's a little grain heavy and some don't like to see beet pulp in foods, but overall, price for quality it is a great deal.

i was looking for a decent food and thought i would try kirkland, but i started seeing rashes on nixxon so he is now being transitioned to taste of the wild. i tried because some memebers seem to have good luck with it. i started actively looking for a better food when i saw this on www.dogfoodanalysis.com

Beet pulp is controversial filler. It is a by-product, being dried residue from sugar beets which has been cleaned and extracted in the process of manufacturing sugar. It is a controversial ingredient in dog food, claimed by some manufacturers to be a good source of fibre, and derided by others as an ingredient added to slow down the transition of rancid animal fats and causing stress to kidney and liver in the process. We note that beet pulp is an ingredient that commonly causes problems for dogs, including allergies and ear infections, and prefer not to see it used in dog food. There are less controversial products around if additional fibre is required. The inclusion of some amount of fruits and vegetables is appreciated.

during my search for better food i was set on blue buffalo or wellness, but i was turned on to Taste of the Wild (TOTW) via this site. I found that a 30# bag cost $43 which is cheaper then Blue Buffalo and Wellness and TOTW is grain free. Merrick seems like a good food and if you sign up for there membership which i think is $25 then you get 10% off products ordering from the website.

I second what BxrMommieNAZ said. Great bang for the buck. I have fed this to my dogs before and they do fine on it. Of course, there are better foods out there, but if you are having such a hard time finding those better foods, Kirkland is far better than Pedigree, Purina, and the rest of those you'll find in grocery stores.

Absolutely! Leaps and bounds above! It does not have any by-products, corn, soy, wheat or other nasty ingredients in it. It's only con IMO is it's a little grain heavy and contains beet pulp, but there are no majorally nasty ingredients in it and it's a healthy food.
