Hello Good People,

I am a newbie and have a male brindle boxer. King has already had 3 puppy shots and scheduled for his permanent rabies shot on 9/12. Are three temporary puppy shots the norm?

I have read that boxers are smart and King has shown it. I have already paper trained him, he recognizes his name, knows come, sit, paw, down and rollover commands. I bought, TRAINING YOUR BOXER, by Joan Walker and training DVD's, which have made training King fun and exciting.

King walks with a leash with no problem and I walk him twice a day, at sunrise and sunset, around the block, but it takes us a long time to do so, as King needs to greet anyone and everyone we come across, and he sits to rest very often.

I am still working on King not jumping when greeting me or anyone and not to chew on my slippers, shoes, furniture, toilet paper, etc. Any pointers, anyone?

Help w/ Jumping

We have a 6 month old female brindle who loves to jump. Unfortunatley not everyone enjoys this behavior:( The best way to remedy it is to get some treats, make your dog sit and not let anyone pet him unless he is sitting. At first you will pretty much be contiuosly feeding him while saying "sit, good boy". Eventually you won't need to reward him as much. And make sure if he gets up the person stops petting him until he sits down again. Trust me, this works very well. Kona even knows now to sit when we come home before we'll greet her. Hope this helps, good luck!
