kicked out of doggie daycare-sorry long

Definitely if the toys are the soft, furry kind with a squeaker inside. I usually try to get the harder rubber toys now. He's got a big mouth. Many big dogs, boxers especially though destroy toys quickly. Does that show that he has a hard mouth?


My gut tells me that something definitely happened to him that afternoon that stressed him out. While the handler was telling me about the incident I noticed that Jesse was lying in his crate with such a stressed look on his face and he was panting heavily and it wasn't hot.

Ive seen hard mouthed GSD take those big hard rubber toys down in a few minutes.

The "niblets" as you call them is proof that Jesse knows what is appropiate with his mouth. I would say bite inhibition is not an issue especially because Jazz can put him in his place without to much protest.

My guess would be Jesse and the boxer pushed the play to hard and it escalated before the person watching could stop it, he might respect Jazz enough to let her put him in her place but Boxers with the flying paws can be very rude and if the other dog gets pushed to far bad things can happen.

Of course thats all based on speculation!
I would watch Jesse closely with other dogs to make sure its not a developing issue. And if you are still concerned I would contact a behaviorist.

I feel better now about not having Jesse and Jazz returning to that daycare after giving it a lot of thought. I don't want my dogs to be in a crazy and dangerous situation like that where there's so many dogs and not enough supervisors. Since I know that Jesse does have fear issues I did decide to contact a behaviorist to have Jesse evaluated and get their opinion on any kind of management going forward. As I couldn't find a certified behaviorist in CT, (all I found were dog trainers who offer behavior training but are not certified) I ended up having to go out of state. I have an appointment scheduled next Friday at the behavior clinic at Tufts in Massachusetts.
