Our new puppy Dee Dee had her kennel cough vaccination on the 4th of May. I wasn't planning on getting her this, but I signed her up for puppy classes given by a trainer at the vets office and this was required to be able to take the classes.
It was the intranasal vaccination. Anyway, since the weekend anyway, our old boxer Duke has been coughing, bad. Plus he had a sort of goopy eye right before the coughing started. It sounds like he is trying to hack something up and sometimes he does, just white foamy mucous sometimes. So I am trying to find out what is wrong with him and beings he is old all I can think of is cancer. So I google some more words kennel cough vaccination shed and yes a vaccinated dog can give the other dogs kennel cough because they shed the virus. He is always smelling her poop and pee. He has not been vaccinated for this in a long time because we no longer board our dogs. So maybe this is it? I have an appointment to take him to the vet in a couple of hours, but wanted to see if anyone had any personal experience or knowledge with this. Thanks for any info, Paula P.S. I printed off a couple of different articles for the vet about the possibility of a newly vaccinated dog shedding the virus for approximately 3 days and it makes other dogs sick.
