I found this article to be helpful in my concerns about my dog's seasonal flank alopecia...They're not selling anything, it's just a veterinarian's observations and research...I found it informative. And it mentions that this condition is relatively common in boxers and bulldogs.

It's Definitely Seasonal Flank Alopecia

Hello All,

Thanks for your responses. I took Kaine for a second opinion today and this vet too said it was definitely Seasonal Flank Alopecia. She said to expose him to as much sunlight as possible, maybe even a plant light. She said she would normally recommend Melatonin but since summer and more daylight is just around the corner, she felt it unnecessary. She advised me that in the fall of next year, I should give it to him to prevent a recurrence. At least I have some good pictures of him for those who have the same problems later on! And...I found out that Zoey, my puppy that just got over D-Mange, has Canine Acne on her chin. The vet said it's real common in dogs who have had D-mange, as their immune systems are already compromised. My poor babies! At least, its nothing major!

Kaine's Seasonal Alopecia

I am going to be starting Kaine on Melatonin 6mg a day and see if that helps....i will keep you all posted!
