Its that time of season when the fleas, ticks, and the mosquitos the size of horses come out to haunt our beloved boxers. I am trying to decide which Flea and tick application to buy. For the last 2 yrs I have been using Frontline Plus and it has worked great. I have seen ads and write ups on the K9 Advantix and I am not sure how good of a product it really is. Which would you say works the best?

Allergic to Advantix

Daisy is allergic to Advantix, but Frontline works great. The vet said that Advantix is a little stronger so they reccommend it for Alabama. But Daisy has had Demodex and her skin is a little sensitive. If your baby has any health issues at all, go with Frontline.

I have been searching and it looks like if you hit the right site you can get either the K9 advantix or the frontline plus 6month application for anywhere between 50-55 shipped.

I have never personally used Frontline, but when I rescued Emma she had a lot of ticks. I applied Advantix and I think it works great. I have never had to use a flea/tick product before, but if I ever need to again I will definately get Advantix. However, if Frontline has been working for you then I wouldn't mess with success.

There are a few vets I know of that recommended Advantix whe it first came out but it didn't work as well for ticks as Frontline. I've personally never used Advantix but I have used Frontline in lovely tick infested Maryland. It worked great for me (I've never used the Plus). I get mine from Calvetsupply.com and it's a bit under $30 for a 3 month supply.

Also something you might want to think about is that the K9 Advantix is poisonous to cats, so if you have any cats in your house you should prolly just stick with the Frontline, because it is safe for both. I know this because we poisoned our cat accidentally with the advantix after we had put it on Champ for the first time. Not good for kitty--he did 3 days in the hospital and the vets were amazed that he made it. Just a thought!!! :)

I got Luka in September, and for the first month I used Frontline...then winter hit and I stopped useing everything all together. However, ever since I got him, I have been giving him Brewers yeast w/ garlic tabs. Now spring is here, and I've questioned weather to just stay with the tabs or combine it along w/ the Frontline.

Any one else use Brewers yeast and is it strong enough to just by itself or should I re-start the Frontline application?
