Just wondering.......Do Boxers bark?

My Oscar didn't bark for the longest time...I didn't think he could. Then one morning after my husband left for work, Oscar was at the end of the bed and heard an abnormally loud clash of thunder...he barked. I think he thought I was in danger. That seems like the only time he does bark. You may think that I'm weird but he barks at people that make me uncomfortable and even people that I later learned that I couldn't trust. Now, when I meet someone new, they have to meet Oscar because he is the true test. Besides his infrequent bark, he also whines. Like when he wants to go outside to potty, or when he wants some attention....it's actually rather cute.

Oh your so lucky that your boy doesn't bark. I have a real BARKER of a male, he barks at me, at my SO and at the wind. He is my guard dog and is a real pain in the rear. His bark is very deep and very loud. My girl rarely barks, but when she does, WATCH OUT, it's piercing!

I have a funny story about barking for the first time. Daizzy was 5 months old and was at Bob Evans Farms and she saw a horse for the first time. She barked and barked and barked! We laugh because my Husband says the horse were the same color as her (fawn) and Daizzy thought "LOOK HOW BIG THOSE BOXERS ARE" LOL She was scared! She hardly ever barks.

I've got an argument for boxers barking and boxers not barking.

We've got 2 boxers that are as different in personality as they are in appearance. Both are 21 month old females from the same breeder. Paige is a fawn who has only ever barked once. That was the first time she heard the lawn mower. Lexxus on the other hand is a dark brindle who will bark at the slightest inclination of strange noise or neighbour dogs. They've got a pretty good system though for those unfamiliar outside noises. Lexxus like a radar lets out her ever ferocious bark(she wishes) and like a shot Paige is at the front window ready to ward off any would be trouble with her killer tongue.

I have two boxer, both came into our family as puppies. My older boxer is almost 3 years and my younger boxer just turned 1. My older boxer will bark only at the vacuum cleaner and only if it is running. My other one does not bark at all. Even if facing other dogs that are barking like crazy mine just stare at the barkers like their crazy.
I don't think I want to teach mine to bark, that could get out of hand quickly. Now, they do make MANY other sounds, just not barks.

Our boxer didn't bark for the first year or so, then she seemed to start barking when other dog would bark. Now she barks when some one rings the doorbell, or when some one walks by the yard, and especially at cats!

harley never barked till he was about 7 months old! now he's really into it. tante on the other hand is only 10 weeks old and barks constantly! go figure

We can get Me-Tu to bark if we bark too, kind of worried like. It is great. You should see me in my house barking when I hear the door so the dog will be a big tough guard dog, teehee
