Just a question about weight of my dog

Just wondering... My dog is 7mths old well near 7 mths is more like it... and he is only around 35lbs. Is that to small for him. He eats like a pig and excercises ALL the time, wheter its running like a mad dog outside or walking with me at the park or just pouncing on my head on the bed... :-p I was just wondering because his sister is twice his size. But he was the runt of the bunch could that be why?

Chloe was around 40-42 lbs at 7 months; her sister was 55.... Chloe is tall and very skinny - too skinny - and we have had problems with her not wanting to eat. Out of 6 pups in the litter she was in the middle for her weight -- and all the pups now growing up hold pretty much true to their birth order (i.e. the biggest sister at birth is still the biggest )

Do his hip bones show, and his spine? You said he eats & is very active - so that just might be it; just slower to put on the pounds :D. Do you know the weight/size of his dad? - that's usually a good indicator of where he will end up.

If he is eating, and is active, and happy - then I wouldn't worry. I noticed that they don't grow steadily all the time - CHloe slowed down at around 6 mos. and just now we're noticing that she is (finally) starting to put on some weight & fill out (a tiny bit). I guess they have their own grow spurts - on their own time :D.

thanks for replying. And his hip bones show just a tad. When I first got him when he was about 8wks he was horribly skinny. he's filled out alot... but i still think he's so tiny to be this old. And no I dont' know how much his dad weighed. But I've been reading alot and i've read that they don't stop filling out utnil around the age of 2 or 3. So hopefully my baby will grow up to be strong.

But he does eat... All the time. ... but he is pretty active so yeah, like you said maybe thats it.

Sirus was 26 lbs at 5 months and by the time he was 7 1/2 months old he had gained 17 lbs. So at 7 1/2 months he weighed 43 lbs. He's 2 years old and at 60 lbs right now...but the boys legs just finally quit growing! He looks like a stork...we always joke about him walking on stilts.
The vet told us not to worry...that he'll start to "fill out" soon.
He still looks really skinny...but he's always on "GO" mode. People think that I feed my dog crack and/or that I starve him. He eats like a moose! He's like that tall, lanky teenage boy...poor guy!

HAHAHA... yeah i took my dog to mcdonalds today to get a water and they were like oh he's so skinny. I was like yeah well he eats all the time. I iddn't want them to think i didnt' feed him. *sigh*

But yeah thats how chester is he's so tall. but so little. Hoepfully he will start feeling out... but if he doesn't i'll love him just the same.
