In light of the things I have been reading about the flu going around I thought I'd ask for opinions. Lucy has been acting fine, no major change in her "craziness". But lately she's been sneezing a lot more and her nose is slightly runny. Yesterday she had a couple runny poos. And, at night when she's going to sleep she makes these strange respitory noises. Not sure how to describe it, not like a human cough but sort of like the beginnings of throwing up. She'll do that a couple times then be fine.

We went to the dog park this weekend so that's why I am wondering if there is anything to this. Interested to hear what others my thing??

Thanks!

She may have caught a little cold or maybe a little kennel cough from another dog. It's my understanding that with this flu, they have kennel cough symptoms, but a very high fever, too. Colby didn't have a fever with kennel cough. Maybe she has allergies, too. The Fall is famous for an increase in allergens. I'd keep an eye on her and if she's not better in a day or two, I'd take her to the vet, to be sure.
Hope she's feeling better soon!

Thanks. It may be allergies too. She goes up and down with them. Is there anything I can give her to help her feel better? We're scheduled for a vet visit on the 8th. She's in her last week of Ivermectin for mange. Of course, we'll go sooner if need be. So hard when they can't tell you what's wrong. Poor girl.

Not sure, but maybe you can give her a Benadryl, and if the symptoms subside, you can narrow it down to allergies. Either way keep an eye out and take to the vet if it persists. Good luck!!

Thanks. Now I'm even more worried because she has peed in her crate twice today. She has never done that. Any ideas? She was so hyper and her normal self after work tonight, but she had already peed in there and now, we just got home and she did it again!!

I think Kyllian has a cold....

We are going to the vet this afternoon. This morning she was making funny noises sleeping - like when we have a cold and can barely get air through the nose - and it sounded "wet." After she ate, I guess because her had was down, her nose was dripping and she started trying to keep it in by pulling air in hard like we do.... She had her flu shot last week - whatever they call that boratella (I know that's not the right name) or something they do every six months. I don't know if dogs are like people who may get flu symptoms after a shot, or if she got it from another dog - she goes to doggie day care sometimes, but they check their shot records carefully.... Sucks though. I ended up not going to work. I'm not gonna leave the dog alone if she is not breathing right. Probably not necessary, but just in case....

Our 13 week old sounds the same, really congested sinuses, blocked nose at night when sleeping then runny during the day. I took him to the vet last wednesday and she put Duncan on 2 meds. One is a pill to stop his runny nose, then the other was an antibiotic he takes through an eye drop.

And yes, his stool has turned lighter in color too and has been more frequent.

To help with the sleeping, we have been keeping his head elevated with a pillow and it seems to help keep his sinuses from completely blocking up.
