Boxer Pal
We adopted our boxer from the local Humane Society. We have since found out, he was there because if left outside unattended for longer than about two minutes, he jumps out 6 foot wood fence. Anyone else had to deal with this? Suggestions please.

My breeder has a similar problem with one of her dogs. If I remember correctly, she said she has placed cattle gates (long gates you can get at any farm supply store - like Orschlen's) against the fence and covered them with tarps so the dogs can't get up there and climb - they slide off the tarps. This would make the fence more like 9-10 feet tall at least. Of course, you want to make sure you secure the gates to the fence well so the dogs don't pull it down on top of themselves. Also, my breeder lives in the country - this method may not work as well in town. Sorry I can't be more specific than this, but I hope this at least gives you some ideas.

I would recommend not leaving her out there by herself. Go outside with her when she has to go to the potty and take her on walks so she can investigate the neighborhood without getting out on her own.

Boxer Insane
IMO your dog should never be outside unsupervised. There are people on this board who's boxers have been swiped right out of their yard because they ran inside for a minute to grab the phone. One minute is all it takes. Not to mention the things your boxer will eat in your yard or mischief they will get into if left alone. But you can train a dog to stay away from the fence. Tulsa Dan will have some good advice for you and if you do a search at BW you should find some good info.
