Its appears to be a never ending struggle. My two boxers are well mannered, that is until somoene comes to visit. At that point they loose all brain cells whatsoever and proceed to pounce our company. At that point we try the sit, stay, down, & the no command. Are female listens (sorta) but our 2 year old male acts as if hes 6 months old. I know there are tons of different methods of training, not sure what avenue I'm going to take but I do know I will train them
Jumping! I am so glad I am not the only one and have realized this is a problem with boxers. Ginger is 6 and we still battle this when company comes over. In the beginning, my hubby would just let her play in the yard or put her in a spare bedroom. Well, this does not solve the problem at all. I told him that she has to learn not to jump on people. Some people don't mind and non-dog people simply hate it. Still, it is not right for a dog to jump on anyone. She is fine with us, it is when we have company, which is not often. We have been working with her, we keep her on the leash and put her in the sit and stay position. But she gets so overly excited with people, it is difficult holding her by your side. Another problem I have is that my guests do not help, they make a fuss as soon as they come in. I have told them to ignore her when they come in. She has gotten better but not 100%, she will settle down, usually takes 15 minutes, then as soon as someone calls her name she is bonkers again. Don't give up everyone, I know it is difficult but keep working with them. I know they are just a bundle of love and just want to show everyone how sweet they are.:D
