I have a D3000 and it is efficient. I would buy the body only which knocks off the price, and then get a fast prime lenses. That means it doesn't zoom in and out and u can use natural light instead of a flash. I have 35mm 1.8 which was pretty cheap. If I were getting a camera today I would get a d90 body only. Its a little more camera but has a focus motor inside the camera. Then get the nifty 50... oh and these are Nikon cameras.
