Does anyone have suggestions for a joint/arthritis supplement? I currently use Glyco-Flex for Dallas -- that's what my vet recommended (and sold) when I started getting it for Dallas. Now that my supply is about gone, I thought I would check to see what others are using before I buy more. Should I upgrade to Glyco-Flex II (more expensive)? Switch to something else? Suggestions are appreciated!

FYI -- Dallas had surgery two months ago for a luxating patella and ruptured ligament. He's still recovering (progressing well!), so I don't know for sure what is final outcome will be. Some arthritis had already developed before surgery, so it is very likely that he will still have that even with succesful surgery. That being the case, I expect that I'll keep him on a joint supplement indefinitely - I'm looking for a long term supplement, not just something for his recovery period.

I know lots of people who have good luck with Glucosamine Condroichtin (sp?). The only thing is that I know that you can't use it for dogs (or people) who are diabetic.

We are using Glycoflex II (and will forever or until something better comes along) but after paying $60 for our first bottle, I am now getting it online at http://www.healthypets.com. It has MSM, and the famous green lipped mussel from New Zealand. It is supposed to have some anti-inflammatory effect as well as the lubricating and healing properties of the glucosamine and chondroitin.

I've had good luck with Glucosamine Chondrotin. My vet even recommended that I buy the human version because she says it is just as effective as some of the canine varieties and of course it costs much less. My Jasmine has been taking three tablets twice daily (two in the morning and one at night) for the past two years.
