so i was in the grocery store a couple weeks ago and i found some akc duck jerky that looked really good, i mean i almost wanted to try them myself... and i thought its akc brand so it has to be good right? then i see something about jerky causing kidney failure, does anyone know if the akc duck jerky is not part of the problem??? she loves it and id hate to keep her from it but i cant justify giving it to her if there is even a chance that it could hurt her...

Personally I wouldn't risk it. The companies that make these treats are not required to tell on the packaging where the ingredients are from, so it could be from anywhere and you wouldn't know it until your dog got sick. I'm sure you can find some other safe treats that she likes just as much.

Thank you for posting your question. I'm new to having a fur baby and I had absolutely no idea that this was even a concern. I haven't yet fed jerky to Tyson but I have looked at it several times considering it.......so just wanted to say thanks...your question alerted me to the potential danger.
