Well, I've been giving Ralphie Benadryl for one week now and I have not seen any improvement with his bumps. I guess we have to go back to the vet. Why is it that Boxers are acne-prone, if that's what these bumps are? I've never noticed any other breed with a similar problem, although to be perfectly honest, I really only pay attention to other Boxers!

I just returned from the vet after discovering "funky little bumps" on Samson's head and neck. Upon further examination we were able to feel bumps on other parts of his body. He has not been itching or scratching. The vet said that it is a minor skin infection common in short-haired dogs. He may have rubbed up against something that irritated the skin. She prescribed an oral antibiotic and a medicated shampoo to use on him. Said there is nothing to worry about since we caught it early however, had we allowed it to go, it could've become really irritated and scabby with hair loss in the areas. I'm glad I took him in. Just as a side note, she said that this same infection is common in Schnauzers and they just call them "Schnauzer bumps."

Maybe the food dishes

Do you use plastic food dishes they can harbor quite a bit of bacteria and cause acne and skin infections. That may be why his bumps aren't going away. I'd switch to stainless steel dishes and wash them regularly.

Jade went to a new vet today, the old vet wasn't working out. The new vet said that he thought it was a skin infection. He gave me oral antibiotics and said to give her benadryl if they are bothering her. He gave me 10 days worth and said if this did not clear it up then he will scrape them and try something else. I hope that this works for her. They seem to be worse on her head, but she is so nosey that she puts her head in everything. That is my best guess anyway.

We have tyried the collar thing, ointments, sprays, bottle water, medical shampoo, diff foods, supplements, etc. I just took my little girl to vet to get full blood work done. He thinks and I say THINK cause I'm beginning to think that vet. care is really hit or miss.......Well I'm at approx. 500 bucks with trying to help the allergic problem so now I spent another 300 bucks for blood work. I love my boxer too much to see the bumps and the watch the scratching. I'll post in about 2 or 3 weeks to let you all know the results. Good luck. BOXERS RULE!!!!

Girlie had the same thing around 4 months, and I was really scared. They turned out to be puppy pimples and with them, you can't do anything. They took quite some time to go away completely. Make sure you wash your food and water dishes regularly, they can harbor bacteria that can cause pimples. One last possibility is puppy warts, also nothing you can do. Good luck and most likely nothing to worry about.

I wish the "bump" problem was confined to Ralphie's face, but unfortunately he has them everywhere. As soon as some go away, they are replaced by new ones. The old ones scab and now he has bald spots where the bumps were. I agree with the "hit and miss" vet care--I have spent thousands (no exaggeration) for various problems, and I'll be adding to the bill now for this one. What are you going to do? Ralphie is far to precious to allow this to continue.

Jade's bumps are gone for now. The antibiotics she took for the last ten days worked. And the hair is growing back. I guess it was a skin infection. I dont know what she got into, or what kinda bug bit her, but atleast now I know what works.

My Jesse at 7-8 months has bumps under his chin also. I just found them and freaked. One of the moderators here thought is might be pimple also.

Well, I'm happy to report that Ralphie's bumps appear to be clearing up. He has been on on antibiotic for 5 days now ( because of an upper respiratory infection, which is also better). With any luck, his fur will start to grow back, too. I'm so relieved that he is feeling better. I have also started to mix a tablespoon of plain yogurt with his food, which seems to be alleviating the gas problem. All in all, things are looking up!! Thanks, everybody, for all the helpful suggestions.
