Two weeks ago I treated my kennel with bayer advanced insect killer, and the ortho max granuals(sorry for the spelling). I also flea dipped my two dogs. The area was not that bad when I treated and my dogs were flea free for about two days, now the fleas are back 10 times as bad as they were and my dogs are now infested...I tried the flea shampoo and picked hundreds of fleas off my boxer last night and also put some frontline plus on him. today he is covered worse than yesterday. I need help because i've given up and do not know what to do...I have never had a problem this bad and I've owned dogs all my life...

I use revolution on all my animals and have never had fleas.
Many years ago I had a huskey and a couple cats that had loads of fleas, but back then I was young, stupid and broke. My ex husband also had a dog who always had fleas. Now in the same house as mentioned above I have 2 boxers and 2 cats, and not a one of them have fleas in a house that was known for them.
I recommend going to the vet and getting a good flea med like revolution.( If you dont already have one ) There is also the option of spraying the yard, but you have to be careful with the dogs during the drying time, and spraying the yard really wouldnt do any good if you still have them on the dog and in the house.

I'd recommend either having a professional pest control company to come out or get something better than Ortho Max (which IMO is a waste of money). I get Suspend SC from an online place called do my own pest control, it's the stuff professionals use and it works GREAT. I just had to buy a sprayer for $20 at the store and mix it with water, very easy comes with instructions and it's safe for kids and pets (I have both) after it dries. I spray my yard and perimeter of my home every 60-90 days depending upon the time of year and I don't have any creapy crawlers anymore. I also treat all of my pets with Frontline Plus.

Darn fleas

I am having the same problem, we have 2 pommeranians and 1 boxer puppy, and all are infested! I have treated the yard twice, tried frontline, and dipped the dogs but nothing seems to get rid of them. I think that i might try the revolution flea control before i give up and call a profesional

The problem is that EVERYTHING, yard, home and pets have to be treated at the same time with something that is 100% foolproof.
If that means removing the dogs from the area until the problem is gone with the enviroment then that has to happen.
Capstar is a pill that you can get from the vet that kills the fleas within hours FROM THE DOG. They are jumping off the dog in minutes. I don't know about its use with topical products but your vet will be able to tell you.
It won't matter though WHAT you put on the dog if their living quarters and yard are still infested. Frontline doesn't REPEL fleas but kills them, eventually AFTER they have bitten the pet.
Since the problem seems to be quite intense I would hire a company to come out that guarantees whatever product and application they use.
Utilize something else in the house (same company may offer this) and treat the dogs the same day.
I might even head to a hotel for a day with the dogs!!!!
I don't do bugs.

You also need to treat the home or it won't do anything.

I understand you frustration. Once you get fleas it is really hard to get rid of them. This is what has worked best for me. I treat the yard 1st I use seven dust or a product I get from the farm supply called Bug Blaster. I bathe Abbie with Dawn Dish Washing liquid. I actually put on my swim suit and get in with her. I use a comb and go the opposite direction than her hair and make sure the dawn get in there good and that gets rid of alot. I then give her a capstar pill it will kill anything on her and keep them off for 24 hours as a previous poster stated you will litterally see the fleas jumping off her. The next day I apply Advantix. I have used Front Line Plus and it did not work for me. I then Bomb my house I believe with I belive it is a Hot Shots Product. It is in a green bottle and is for fleas you can buy it at WalMart or Lowes it take 2.5 hours. Make sure you wait a day after you have bathed her before you apply the Advantix. I would give the Capstar right away. I live in Mississippi and all the heat and humidity makes it difficult to get rid of fleas but this really works for me and it is not exspensive. Capstar $7.00/Advantix $17.00 mnth/ House Bomb $10.00/ Bug Blaster $ 15.00 to $ 30.00.
I also wash all bedding in Hot Water. If you have a vacuum change the bag and put a flea collar inside of it. I also sprinke Boratine Washing Powder on my furniture and carpet to keep the fleas away after I have delt with the infestation. Good Luck!

I had mutant fleas in my back yard and my dogs...and therefore in my house. Nothing seemed to work. I sprayed. I powdered. I had Terminix spray. I bombed. I washed. I dipped. I did everything I could think of. I used Revolution, Frontline, etc. and none of the topical treatments worked. The only thing I have found that does the job is Comfortis. It's a pill my boys take once a month. It's a miracle. They have been completely flea-free since starting the Comfortis. It's only available by prescription. However, I always get the prescription from my vet and order it online because it's much cheaper that way.

Well, It is still a war a the house but I think I might have them pushed back for now anyway...Last night I re-treated the kennel with about a bottle of bayer advanced mixed with 1.5 gal of water...Then I sprayed the dogs with 10% permethrin intended for livestock but says it's safe on dogs...today I checked and a lot of fleas on Tucker had fell off, the rest on there were barely moving and you could tell they were dying...This is only temporary until I can get to the feed and seed store tomorrow and look for more powerful stuff...I have had a lot of great ideas and will have to try and see what works..I have heard nothing but good things about the Comfortis pill so that will be a must have...I've just about given up with the topical treatments. they just dont seem to work...It is also hard to find time to do this, I work a lot of hours and my weekends here lately have been very busy...

As far as the house goes, Tucker hasn't been inside since the fleas attacked and I haven't seen any fleas in the house...Knock on Wood!!!

You should also probably take a stool sample into the vet. Fleas very often infect dogs with worms. Fecal tests are usually cheap and it's definitely worth catching early.

I will also say if your dog was inside with fleas on him it's pretty well impossible that your home is not also infested. It's very easy not to see them. My home was infested and I never knew, until I left for 3 weeks, boarded my cats and my friend took my dog to her home. I came home, walked up the stairs to put my, then, 8 month old baby to bed, I walked up the stairs which was an indoor outdoor carpet (our only carpet in the house mind you except for an area rug) and by the time I had gotten upstairs my legs weer COVERED and I mean COVERED SOLID BLACK from my ankles to my knees I about flipped out. I'm highly allergic to the little suckers (no pun intended) and ended up at the hospital for a few hours, had to bomb my house twice, it was horrible. But I never knew it until I took away the cats and dog and then I was a walking meal. So just because you don't think you see them doesn't mean they aren't there. And if your dog spent time in the home with fleas on him it's almost impossible that your home isn't infested.
