First of all I would like to thank everyone for the information that was given to me when I posted my concerns. I wrote a thing about my 1.5 year old boxer named Gizmo. Gizmo had suddenly lost the use of his back legs and the vets had no answers for us, they just kept saying that he would come out of it. After doing physical therapy with him every two hours he started getting better, we thought he was coming out of it. However, all of the sudden it took a turn for the worst and he lost the use of his front legs. At first we thought he was just having a bad week, but then we couldn't even take him outside to go to the bathroom because when you moved him he was in such pain. We finally decided it was time to put him to sleep; and let me tell you this was the hardest thing I ever had to do. Lucky for us our vet came to the house so he wasn't scared. It's been almost a month and I still haven't healed. I miss him so much and am thinking about getting another boxer; however, I am not sure that I'm ready. Anyway thanks for all your help.

Brooke, I know how hard this is. We had to have our 5-year old male put down in November (brain tumor) after he put up the best fight he could. It's not easy to say goodbye, but you have to accept that there was nothing else you could do, and you did what was right for your dog. Lots of people say to rush right out and get a puppy or new dog, that it really helps to keep you busy and find something else to bond with. I know this has worked for many people, but for us, the loss of JEB (who was such a big part of our lives) was just too difficult, and the thought of a new puppy right after that was just too much. It does get easier, though, and eventually you'll start to long for the pitter-patter (or thundering gallop, in the case of boxers
) of four little paws. In our case, it has taken us 4 months, and now we're talking to breeders and we think we may have found just what we're looking for! I still get teary when I think of JEB, but I've gotten to the point where I'm excited at the prospect of a new puppy in our lives. I hope you are doing okay, and you're in my thoughts.

Brooke, I'm very sorry to hear about Gizmo. I know he is waiting faithfully for you at the bridge. I am thinking of you and your family during this sad and difficult time.
After we helped Mugzy to the bridge, it was difficult to think of getting another, although I knew we would. It is actually so heartwarming how the love you have for the new furbaby renews your love and memories of the furbaby who has passed. So often Cooper does so many things that Mugzy or Buzz did and it just warms my heart all over again.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss! I know how you feel. Lucy has been gone for almost a month, too and I still cry just about every day. Let's just take one day at a time knowing that Gizmo, Lucy, Buddy, Greta and all the other babies that have gone to the Bridge are happy, healthy and in each others company..
