Completely Boxer Crazy
Has anyone read "It's me or the dog" by Victoria Stilwell? Is it worth buying? I love her show an animal planet and was wondering what her book was like.

Never read it, but I love her show too 
Customer reviews on Amazon were mostly good... from what I gathered it sounds like the book is especially helpful for new puppy owners.

Also haven't read the book. Love her show. Very helpful and insightful. I know last Sunday they were going to show her here in the U.S. Missed it though. We could sit for hours and watch that show. Even Tyson likes it. Just wish he'd listen to her!!

I've got the book, it's ok but I wouldn't class her as a serious dog expert.

I watch Victoria and Cesar and every other show on any network at various times of the day. I take a little from each one and use the techniques with my 3 pups. Some work better than other's and some just elude my 3. But all in all, for beginners, she is rather simple and concise which works with most owners until they get their feet wet.

I love Ceasar!!
The first time I saw his show I just sat there truly amazed. What does confuse me is some trainers advise NO treats while training,but most do advise using them. So I tried the dogfathers methods(no treats) and some of Ceasar's and some of Julia's. Simba will follow my commands without treats,but does a whole lot better with them. So sometimes I give him a treat and other times I just give him praise and lots of it. My husband laughs like crazy when I look at Simba and say" Mommy is the pack leader not you." However, he was amazed when this morning I was giving Simba the down and stay command and he came through the house calling for him and Simba didn't budge. Now if I could just train the hubby as well, all would be great. LOL!!!

Worth it??
When my husband and I first decided to get a boxer, we knew we were going to train the pup, nothing fancy but basic obedience at least. So we got a couple boxer specific training books that were recommend on the American Boxer Club website, along with some "handbooks" on boxers. They were really informative and so helpful.
I only say this because I'm wondering if Victoria Stilwell's book will be worth getting since we have the others ones??? We just like learning different ways to do things or to go about things. My husband and I both really like Victoria's methods - me especially. I just don't want to get the book if I've already read everything in there two or three times elsewhere...
PS - We really like Ceaser too. We've taken a lot from both him and Victoria.

I think even though we have read this book and that book, seen this video and that video, there's that third time hearing it that it finally makes sense. Different techniques, different methods, but sometimes it's hearing it a different way or explained a little better that it rings true.
So for me, I believe no info is enough info. And I can read or watch about boxers and dogs in general all day. I always learn something new and usually its not the first time I heard or saw it. Know what I mean?

Love the show.
I absolutely Love Love Love her show on animal planet. Especially because it features Boxers a lot. I really want to buy the book, but is there going to be stuff different then she does on the show. Most of the time its all the same.

ME Too!
. kIlo is easy to train- she loves to please me! I like the show, but I dont think I would need her to come to my place. Sometimes she does things that I dont agree with
