Hi! 23/SWF from Oklahoma...Love animals & have been looking for the perfect dog for a long time - not too big, but not too small! I've known quite a few people with Boxers & everyone seems to love them. I've always been fond of them b/c they are good companions & seem very good with kids, as well as being ADORABLE!

A friend from church just became the mamma of 3 new babies & I got the pick of the litter! She is a brindle, natural ears, and she just had her tail docked yesterday. I'm very anxious about getting her as I've never had an inside dog, only cats (none at the time though).

Anyway, I'm looking for advice to prepare myself for bringing her home. I know that a bad dog is usually the result of a bad "parent", so I've been educating myself as much as possible. It's great to have such a great forum available. BTW, leaning towards the name Lucky!?! Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Hello and welcome!
Congrads on your new baby! I like the name Lucky, that is my sister-in-law's boxers name. Lucky Streak. But we call her Lucky.
The puppy forums around here will probly be your best friend till she gets home (and after) there is sooo much info there! The one thing that I would highly suggest is crate training.
Keep us updated on her!

Nothing wrong with Lucky at all. I personally got my girl in a semi sort of rescue way, and named her Stella. I base it off of "A Street Car Named Desire", Where Brando calls out STELLA. It has been a perfect name, and you will probably find your self raising your voice from time to time as I have, it fits witha Boxer for sure. Actually my present Stella is technically Stella #2, I had a Rat Terrier before I graced with the name. Whatever you choose congrats on your excellent choice in a companion. The only thing better than a Boxer is two Boxers.

Puppy & Kitty?

I posted in the 0-8 wk. section, but I haven't got a lot of response yet - has anyone ever heard if raising a puppy with a kitten makes them a better dog? I've heard it makes them more gentle and gives them a companion that can might make crate training easier? What do you guys think?

Thanks,
Erin
