Itchy Ears

I have been reading a lot of posts about itchy ears and how they may be yeast infections or allergies. I have taken my Sassy to the the vet 3 times for the itchy ears and they gave me a solution to clean her ears with but nothing is helping. I told the vet that it doesn't work he said to try a anti itch cream. I wanted to run this suggestion by some others to see if any of you have been told this by a vet. If so what cream would you suggest? Also, what if any over the counter anti fungal cream would you suggest?

hi, hope your baby gets her ears sorted out soon! like you say lots of dogs on here have thoise problems, sadie has had her fair share in the past. you need to make sure that it is a yeast infection first before applying anti fungal cream. in my experience i get sadies ears back on track with whatever the vet recommends (surolan for me) and then i have a weekly cleansing program where she gets a weekly shampoo and then an ear cleaning wrestle. i now have started using cooled down green tea. the mods in here are an excellent informative group and im sure they will give you more advice.

My Julius has the same problems hell scratch and then shake his ears all around for hours. I bought some over the counter stuff that works well on him its Four Paws EAR MITE REMEDY For Dogs. That seems to work for me. The vet also told me to make a solution of water and vinager but i never tried it. DONT I read clean the ears with QTIPS or RUBBING ALCOHOL. ....it could be several reasons for the scratching-ear mites,yeast infection,allergies-possibly food allergies.....a yeast infection will cause a smelly ear...its hard to treat successfully until a cause can be found.Good luck
