I have put off having Napoleon neutered long enough. He is 8 months old.
He goes to the vet on Friday.
I have never had a male that has had surgery before.
I know with my female she kinda felt bad for a few days.

How long will he be feeling bad?
Will he need anything extra when he comes home?
I have been told that after surgery they can not tell when they need to go out for a while... is this true?

I am really concerned about his feelings. Of course, he doesn't have a clue what is going on.
Any suggestions will really help!!

Thank You!

When Jesse was spayed she never acted any different. For females spaying is a major surgery, for males it is minor. When you go to the vet make sure they are not going to use ACE during the surgery and everything should be just fine. (do a search on here for ACE if you do not know what it is) Your pup will not need any thing extra unless he is interested in licking his stitches then you may need an E-Collar. The vet should beable to tell if he will need that before he leaves. Other than that there should be no rough play for a couple of days and then he is good to go.

Thank You. I have already talked to the vet, he doesn't use ACE. He has assured me everything will be fine. I just worry. (typical mom I guess). He said they do bloodwork before surgery to make sure there are no other hidden problems.

He said I should pick him up late afternoon. I thought they would keep him overnight.
