Check into Care Credit. I ended up getting this to use for Bayleigh's medical treatments. It can also be used at various doctor, dentist and other medical offices.
Issue needing insurance?

Her appoinment is on thursday. My vet's office has an ortho on staff. Next closest is Philly.
Have to add though.....we will only be getting the x-rays, tests and such done there and then switching completely to another vet. This vet hospital was bought out a year ago by VCA. I wasn't happy, but nothing really changed. Until friday. I had to take Buster in for his nail trim and it is usually with sedation and total bill $27.00. Well, this time it was $92!!! Yes, the new pricing has kicked in and they have on average, tripled! They gave me a courtesy discount this time, but no more for next time. I can't afford $92 every month for a stinking nail trim! Dangit! 3 years it took for one tech to gain enough trust for him to tolerate the trim, now what? URGH!
I am so bummed cause I absolutely loved my vets. Good news is I happened to have found, after 20 or so calls, the first vet I took Lily to that was a partner at my current vets office, but left that practice shortly after. I will be switching to him for the second opinion and future care on Lily and her leg/hip? issues. Gonna switch both dogs and cats over.
With VCA prices, I could never afford to be over-deligent with my dog's health again. That scares me cause I will pay anything for them to be healthy and pain-free.
Oh well............I will post the update from her visit. Thanks guys for your support, info and direction. I appreciate it so much!

For future reference for you...I have to say that I have had wonderful experiences with VPI. They are absolutely great. I do have a pre-existing condition clause because Sadie had allergies on her record when I purchased it and because allergies are considered "chronic" they excluded them. Luckily, anything I do related to her allergies at the vet is not so costly and they are easily gotten under control by using benedryl during flare ups (per the vets recommendation).
I purchased their superior plan with the cancer rider through my husband's employer, who supposedly gets a discounted rate for getting the monthly premium automatically taken out of his paycheck. Last year, Sadie had a MCT and after the pathology report came back as that, VPI doubled our coverage because we had the cancer rider. The bill came to about $1000 and we got all but $150 back. They are quick to get you your check too. If I submit the form quickly and correctly (not leaving out the diagnosis or anything) I can quite possibly manage to get the check from them before the credit card bill comes in. I had PetsHealth Care Plan prior to that and sometimes waited up to 6 mos for a check and the coverage was only mediocre. Once you sent in a submission for a vet visit, they wouldn't cover that type of problem again for 3-6 months or something like that. It was just a pain.
I am lucky that Sadie has been pretty healthy. Aside from typical Florida seasonal allergies, and the tumors that started after she turned 7. She has had no genetic problems thus far and is turning 8 in April. She just went in for surgery yesterday to have skin tumors removed. Will be submitting my receipts to them as soon as the pathology report comes in. I am just thankful to them that I can put my mind at ease about getting treatment for my dog. I would do anything I had to for my girl...it's just nice to know that the insurance assists in paying the bill! And they usually thank you for having your pet covered through them! They are a great company!

Vet visit went well! She either has a tiny tear or was muscle strain. She is definitely leaning to one side, but with manipulation, there is no swelling or reaction to stretching. The x-ray shows no swelling or breakage. Also, shows no hip displaysia at this point.
Vet says to keep her as relaxed as a boxer can be for 14 days. AFter that, I should re-introduce biking with slow spurts at first. One dog at a time until Lily can build up stamina again.
Good results on a very scarey problem. It should be resolved with excercise. No pain meds cause if there is any pain, we want to be able to acknowledge it and have her be careful.

Taking your advice, I will be slowly, and I mean slowly, re-introducing excercise. If I see some problems again with limping or pain, she will be going right back to the vet........the new vet this time. The ortho specialist at my current vet looked at the x-rays and did the palpating. So, at this point I am just gonna wait out the down time and slowly start walking again, watching for any signs of discomfort.
I sure hope it's just superficial and nothing to worry about. I really love running them and having their energy expelled. We are all such happy campers when they are tired and just want to cuddle.
