is this normal?

Vegas has a big problem with eye boogers- one of my vets said that it was due to her being bred for her underbite, another vet told me it was conjunctivitus and geve me a cream to put under her eyes- so what is it?- the first vet's opinion made it sound like Vegas was poorly bred- but all boxers have an underbite- let me know what you think

I'm not a vet but I think what he told you is totally ridiculous as far as her being bred for an underbite.
What color is the discharge? If it's yellow, then it can be an infection, Owen got it once and the eye gel cleared it up. But if it’s just white then diet can sometimes play a role. Or maybe she's allergic to something, whether it be food or environmental.

What is she eating now?

my dogs get lots of eyeboogers in spring and fall--allergies!!!

Boxers underbite is part of the breed. Both mine have one and every boxer I have met has had one, some worse than others. As for eye boogers my male has them all the time, and my female rarely. I dont believe its anything to with breeding. I just keep a paper towel handy with Noah.

Anyway, is Vegas a puppy? When I got my Vegas at 8 weeks he had tons of eye gookies every morning when he woke up. The vet and my breeder told me that they produce more when they are teething, why i am not sure. I am sure there could be more reasons than this but I wasn't to worried about it. Once he started to get all his teeth the gookies went away. Now he has a little bit in the morning but nothing like it was when he was a pup.

Eye booger are usually caused by allergies (either food-related or environmentally-related).

If you are feeding her a super premium kibble (or BARF), then you might can rule out the food-allergy. Other than that, try switching foods or find a kibble with little or no grains/corn, etc...

Having an underbite has nothing what so ever with the eye "boogers" Phoenix gets them when she is outside for a little longer then she is used to. It could be alot of things.

the tear stains are more noticeable because your dog is white.

My male use to get tons of eye boogers it was from his kibble he was eating. I have chanaged him to a more human grade kibble and the eye boogers have lessen alot. I think its also just normal in boxers. I can remeber all of the boxers that I have had growing up having them.

I've heard that Boxers are prone to have boogers because they are a short nosed breed... and when they sleep, it just collects in their nasel and eye passages...

Also, there is a huge difference between feeding BARF and regular kibble. Mine will get major boogers when they are on kibble, but wake up with nothing when they are eating BARF.
