Is This How Boxers Play?

Boxer Buddy
My parents have a Siberian Huskey, and we take Presley over there at least once a week. Mainly to steal their huge back yard to go wild in, but with it raining a lot lately, he has been inside with Jetson (The Siberian Huskey). Jetson's tail is always wagging, and his ears are never pinned back, but Presley (The Boxer) always stabs his head in at Jetson's neck, and backs off, and will bolt right back in and nibble on Jetson's neck. Jetson just does his play growl and a little snarl, but doesn't do anything to tell Presley to back off. When Jetson doesn't want anything more to do, Presley will start to nibble at the back of his legs. He will always jump in, nibble, than jump back with butt in air, chest on ground and front paws stretched out.

Is this okay to allow?

Completely Boxer Crazy
When Molly was younger and played hard with other dogs she always went for the neck and the back of the legs. She also was relentless when she played. Other dogs would be done, but not her. It does seem that Boxers will play differently than other dogs. Molly never hurt another dog so I am not sure if your sould stop the play or let the dogs figure it out for themselves. :)

I think Jetson will let him know when he has had enough. Older dogs seem to put up with an awful lot of annoying things before they get nasty back. And I think boxers can be annoying as babies just as you described. It's all cause they play different than most dogs.

I would just sit back and watch the playtime. It will help for you to stop play if it gets beyond a point you would accept if he were older. Set up boundries now cause its harder to do so later.

Super Boxer
my guy likes to jump up and put any other dog in what looks like a head lock,or a hug of some sorts,i have to be carefull because its not an aggressive move on his part, but some dogs can perceive it as such and react accordingly,my guy doesnt have a mean bone in his body so its funny most of the time, people with other dogs that dont know about boxers and their mode of play can be put off a bit.

My Fred is about 1 month older than your guy and plays the exact same way. He is such an instigator. My Lucy will now finally let him have it if she is not interested in playing. They do not fight, but she will give him a little snarl-lunge and he will back off.

Definately how boxers play. Buster and Roxy will nibble at each others neck. I don't think they bite, they just kind of mouth. He is constantly knawing on her back legs to irritate her. It is hysterical. It looks like he is knawing on a chicken bone. She lets him know when it starts irritating her and lets him have it. It sounds like a normal boxer to me! :)

i don't think that you have anything to worry about. from your description it definitely sounds like typical boxer behavior.
just be sure to keep an eye on them and all should be well. i am sure the larger husky will let him know when he has had enough and it is time to back off. some dogs are just more laid back then others.

I have a husky mix - Sasha, who is very laid back. Our younger boxer, Toby, loves to play- just as you have described. He'll either go at Sasha's neck, or at her back legs, depending on the situation. More often than not, Sasha ignores him. If she wants to play, she'll go right back at his neck, and they end up either tearing around the house, or just chewing on each other. If she really doesn't want to do anything, she'll growl and let him know.

Toby plays the same why however we have to keep a close watch on him. When he plays, its usually with a schnoodle dog. My husband's parents have this little dog that Toby has grown up with. They play well together but sometimes I don't think Toby realizes how big he is compared to this little dog. He will playfully bite her neck and go for her back legs. But sometimes he pins her up against the couch with his body so she can't get away. We have to stop it at that point. The little dog is the big instigator too and goes places where Toby can't fit and then barks at him, so sometimes she deserves it. :)
