Is this hives?

My baby has bumps all over his neck. (all the way around?) I'm not sure what the difference in mange and allergies are.
Could someone explain what I should be looking for? He is scratching constantly and licking himself. I need some help. I feel like he just wants to yell at me to help him.

With mange you usually get bald patches. Anywhere from very small to involving large area. There are a million symptoms to allergies. Itching being one of the most common. If your boxer has hives and is very itchy it sounds like and allergic reaction to something. Hives can often be caused by an insect bite, like a spider. You could try giving a plain ordinary Benedryl or the generic equivalent. One pill per 25 lbs weight of your dog. If the hives don't go away within a fairly short time, you should probably take your boxer to the vet. An oatmeal bath may help ease the itching.

Have you taken him anywhere where there is long grass? this happened to my dog once after I took him on a camping holiday, turned out it was a load of insect bites from insects living in the long grass and nearby farmers fields

Hi,
My puppy broke out in hives all over her body. They look like mosquito bites protruding from the skin (the fur is standing up) in blotches. Mange, I was told, is a form of mites.
My dog was allergic to her flea and tick medicine. I was told to give her benedryl (1 mg. for every lb. of weight) every 8 hours. It does make it go away. However, I needed to eliminate the cause. I hope that helps.
