Hi all! I feed my boxer boys Solid Gold Hund N Flocken-been feeding it to them for years and they seem to do well on it. Of course we as boxer moms and dads know, boxers have gas. Im just wondering if there is anything that can be done to curb the gas a bit? Is Solid Gold known for causing gas? Is there anything I can add to their food that will help, like yogurt, oats, etc? I tried the EVO line about a year ago and one of my boys started peeing in the house, so I switched back to Solid Gold and he stopped peeing. The boys sleep downstairs at night in our living room and in the morning when I get up and walk downstairs, sometimes it smells awful from them just tooting all night long!

Thanks for your help!

I don't know why, but your post made me giggle. I think it was looking at that picture of your pup and picturing him saying "what's that smell?? it wasn't me!!"

We have found that adding plain fat free yogurt to Dempsey's food daily has cut down on his gas IMMENSELY! Sometimes though, when he does have a day that just seems worse than others...I slip him one Tums. He looks at me like "Thanks mom,I needed that!"

I make a puree of fat free plain yogurt, apples, and a hint of peanut butter. Then I freeze it and give them one yogurt cube after dinner. They LOVE it and it has helped a lot.

Good luck! My "kids" can clear a room too ;)

Buster was absolutely terrible when we first got him and he was eating Iams. I have switched both my boys to Canidae with a little canned EVO and he doesn't seem to have so much gas and when he does it doesn't clear a room like it used to.
But, I like the frozen yougart treats, I'll have to try those. I now make all their treats instead of buying them.

After reading somewhere on here about natural yogurt, I thought well it can´t do any harm and YES it did work. Lisa loves it now. I just put it in a small bowl and its like her dessert.

Maybe I should try it on him in doors as well.

Thanks for the good info. I used to give them yogurt with their food but the store stopped carrying it on a regular basis and switching between brands upset their tummys. It was Stonyfield Organic fat free yogurt and they did like it. I'll also try the yogurt, apple, peanut butter treat and see how they like that.

When we have friends over, a good portion of the night is spent with their noses inside their collars. I get irritated when people make stupid comments about my dogs when they toot-I tell them that if they dont like it then they know where the door is and they can go right back out the way they came in.

One thing to remember when giving yogurt to reduce the deadly Boxer gas is it must be yogurt that has live, active cultures. It is the microorganisms that make the difference, not the yogurt itself.

I have a gassy girl; my boy is not gassy at all. However, Canidae agrees with my girl; we have fewer deadly moments with Canidae.

I just read that catnip is good to give to a dog for gas. I plan to plant some next month.

Blessings,
Cindy
