Yes whenever we go out with our puppadoo (nickname, or "Doo" for short ) I feel like buying a huge neon flashing sign that says "boxer!" and then has a flashing arrow pointed down at her :p, because everywhere we go I have to be asked, and I mean, I dont mind sharing the word about boxers, or making a few people more knowledgeble, but after thrity or so "what kind of dog is she?"'s ot can get tiring.
As for guesses weve had about what breed she was, I am the only one who says she looks like a dalmation (after a bath alll her spots show up) but we have had the "what a cute bulldog!" And one time we even had a man with a pit bull walk up and say that they were cousins! :rolleyes:
Actually glady enough we have had a lot of people who loved boxers compliment on what a pretty baby she was! Last night I was standing outside in the rain with her waiting for her to do her "bussiness" and she wouldnt have it. She got into her "boxer stance" for some reason, and I didnt know why at first. And then down the street comes what I had wished for, a handsome fawn boxer walking his owner! I just stood dumbfounded like a doof. :rolleyes: I just hoped that they would say the first word so we could talk about the wonderful life of living with a boxer, but instead the girl (there was a high-shool looking aged male and what looked like his girlfriend) only said "wow what an adorable dog! What kind is she?" So apparently I thought it must have been the guys dog, or they didnt know what kind of dog they were walking. Too bad.
But anyhoo Ive taken up too much already on this post so I'll just stop myself now! :p

Hammer gets the Pit Bull thing often. Even at PetSmart I might add, fortunately never from a PetSmart employee!!

I guess it is Peanut's tail that throws people. I don't understand why though. Boxer people know he is a Boxer. I couldn't tell you how many times I have been asked "what kind of dog is that?". They have thought he was a Pit Bull, Great Dane, Mastiff, Mixed Breed. I even had to explain to one lady that they cut most Boxers tails off, she thought they were just born without one. I'm very used to it now. But reactions are entertaining and sometimes irritating occasionally still.

When we first got Stella, we went to Home Depot and I was just carrying her around with me. She was only 6 pounds. But at least 7 or 8 different people came up to us to "see the boxer puppy"! I was so happy, because I thought people might not think she was a boxer because her muzzle is a little long. But everybody knew right away! Lucky us, I guess. We don't get the pitbull thing often at all. Usually if people don't know, they just ask.

seems like everywhere i go i hear people saying "it's a pit bull" and "is that a pit???" pit bulls are VERY common around here tho. and i guess ppl think he is one b/c he is brindle and has natural ears. i don't know. it is kind of annoying. but i just put on a smile and say "no, he's a boxer" (definitely not a california thing, just ignorance)

I used to have a rottweiler/bull mastiff cross who was brindle. Everbody thought he was a pitbull and of course were terrified of him. He was as big of a love as buddy (semi-flashy male brindle). Jake is waiting at the bridge.

Buddy and I now live in the middle east where dogs are very uncommon except with expats like myself. I do have to admit, those that aren't terrified of him (it must be the brindle) are fascinated and think he's beautiful (of course we all agree) but I find very few people that actually know he is a boxer but thats ok because Buddy doesn't know he is a boxer either, he thinks he's a people.

I have had people ask me if Destiny was a bulldog. How they get a bulldog out of a pup with long legs I don't know. But then there are people that that thinks she's a pitt as well. Those people I don't allow to touch her, There are quite a few people here that say what a beautiful Boxer pup you have and they get to shower her with love. she loves it.

Un educated people.......Yesterday i WAS GOING TO GET THAT SHAWDOW STICKER that you can put on your truck of a boxer and the woman that owns the place was saying it isnt a dalmation is it...I dont kow what a boxer looks like! So me being the proud momma I pull out pics of a baby and said for future refrence this is a boxer:p appicon
