Our Boxer is five months old and weighs around 37 lbs. We have heard comments from a few people, mostly those who have had Boxers or know a Boxer, that are surprised at her age when looking at her size. Also we met a seven month old boy at obedience school and he was already 75 lb. The dams in her lineage have weighed in at around 65-75 lbs full grown, and the sires 75-90 lbs. The vet says she's healthy and she looks alright, but this being our first Boxer, we are wondering...is she too small for her age and what are the size expectations as they grow and develop?

Thanks for any answers to our question!!

My Jazz is about 16 months old and weighs about 45 lbs. She stands a little over 18 inches at the shoulders which is under the standards. I have seen alot of boxers around the 50lb mark so weight wise she is not too bad. I also know a guy whose boxer comes almost up to my hip (I'm 5'6")at the shoulder and weighs in at over 100lbs - I swear that he is part great dane. Are you planning on showing your baby? I was a little disappointed at first that Jazz was so small but now I'm glad because she is just the right size to share my chair with and she does not take up all the room in the bed.

I don't think so

My Shelby weighed 33lbs at 4 months & 45lbs at 6 months. She has not been weighed in 2 months but I have noticed a she looks larger this last month. I am sure she is over 50lbs now. Her mother weighed 75lbs & her dad weighed 85 to 90. I have heard many people on the board say they were still growing until 2. They have growth spurts just like people. As long as she is eating good . She will get there !!!

Baily weighs about 65 lbs now, Nike weighs about 80 lbs Baily is 14 months and nike 3. Baily weighed 45 lbs at 6 months. Dont worry whatever size they are the love they give is huge

I wouldn't worry. Your boxer still has a lot of growing to do. She could easily reach 55-65 lbs before she is done and believe it or not, that is actually what she should weigh. There are a lot of oversize boxers out there.

It's all in that strut ! ! ! ! !

Dallas is going on 7 months on March 10th. She weighs in at 39.5 lbs! So no need to worry as everyone here has said they go through growth spurts... frogicon and believe me our Dallas put on 10 lbs in 2 weeks so I believe it. There is an older man here that has a boxer that also goes over my waist and he told me it weighs 120lbs. Looks like a boxer, but it looks to big and very obese! Can you say over feeding? WOW! Just stick with your furbabies health. If it is healthy and gives you all that boxer love then truly the size of the pup doesn't matter. Just wait and see... Your pup just may wind up surprising you with how much they can grow? :) and how fast it happens!!!!

Thank you for all the answers! Well, it sounds like we shouldn't be concerned at all - but you know how it is when you hear things a few times, you can worry...We're not planning on showing our baby - but instead training her for agility so I guess it doesn't matter what size she ends up. She's a healthy little lovey dove and thats what counts!

37 lbs. at five months sounds perfect to me. Scarlet weighed in at 46 lbs. at six months. I have a feeling Scarlet is going to be a 75 lb adult which is about 10-15 lbs more than I had hoped. Scarlets Mom weighed 60-65 lbs. and her Dad 70-75 lbs.

It's hard to say because they are all different and grow at their own rate. Pru is 18 months and only weighs 48 lbs, Sheeba is 13 months and weighs 60 lbs. My MIL's female Boxer is 6 months and weighs about 10 lbs. She weighed 4.? lbs at 3 months when she went in for her ear crop. So compared to her you have a monster on your hands.

Also, if you are feeding good food she will grow much slower which is very good. So just because she weighs 37 lbs now doesn't mean she isn't going to weigh 70 lbs at 2 years.;) It's hard to say if a Boxer is small for a Boxer until they are full grown.

Betty weighs a whopping 23 pounds at 4 months. Sometimes I look at her and think she is starving herself. She hardly wants to eat. Sometimes no breakfast but will eat her dinner.
She will be a small boxer I'm sure.
