i DONT leave food or water with her because she throws it all over the place.

When i am home though her food and water are kept in the crate and she goe sin and out with no problem to eat and drink (its in there so the other dog wont eat it because she cant fit in the crate.)

ANd im not going to drug her every time i leave the house.

Canine Aromatherapy?

I have to agree that I wouldn't drug Shiva every time I leave the house! He drools, too, but has gotten better about it. I, too, think he has started to realize we're coming back.

I would certainly recommend training techniques before drugs. I can't see using drugs out of convenience if its a stage, part of the learning/adapting process, or can be fixed with behavior modification/training. Then again, if its more than that (and you've tried everything else) and your dog is living an unhappy life due to anxiety, anything to make him/her happier, right?

The last time we were at our vet's office, I noticed a small box that said something about calming dog pheromones. I suppose this amounts to a drug, but I wonder if anyone has heard of it.

Tae has the same issue. I adopted her a year ago and crated her for the first few months. I would return home from work and she's be drenched, as would the carpet under the crate.

I consulted with a behaviorist and we are still working out the issue (mostly my fault we haven't fully worked it out--long story), but she believes Tae has anxiety or sep anxiety. She is not crated now and is not destructive, but she pees in the house every day, while I'm at work. She never does so when I am home and rarely does it when I go out on the weekends. I have her on Clomicalm (clomipramine) and we will combine it with behavioral training soon.

One thing my behaviorist recommended, that I have not tried yet, but may in the future is DAP:

She says some folks have had success with DAP. The independent pet store near me sells it and it can be returned if I do not feel it worked.

Evie was really bad with anxiety too so we would give her a blanket with our scent on it and leave the tv on for her to watch - on animal planet of course! :D this helped a ton! once she was potty trained, we no longer used the crate and would instead put her in our bedroom while we were gone. She was MUCH happier after that. Now that she's over 2 years, she has free roam of the house.
