We are planning a family trip to the beach this weekend and i'll like to take whiskey and gisele. However, i'm concern about to much sun and the sand. Is this bad for their skin? Lately it's been pretty sunny and in the upper 80's almost 90 degrees. Please advice! Thanks!

I don't think sand is bad for their skin. Just think of how you would deal with it yourself...Not to have too much sun exposure..they can burn just like people. Also, before you go in...you always rinse the sand off, I'd do the same to them so it wouldnt irritate their skin. I think you can find children's sunscreen for sensitive skin that you can use if you are planning to be out without shade for extended periods of time. Boston loves the beach! Have fun!

No reason to worry about the sand :)
But make sure to bring a lot of water and that there is some shade for them to rest. You don't want them to get overheated.
I'm sure they will love the beach, have fun!

If you are going to the ocean/beach be careful that they aren't drinking the salt water. Also, make sure you rinse out the 'female' parts really well afterward. Darby gets irritated on her vulva from the sand. Have fun!!

If Wiskey and Gisele drink water like Spook does... take plenty with you !
Spook needs 4 of 5 big bottles for an afternoon !!!

I always have a first-aid kit in the car ... he stept in some glass or something once on the beach... very handy to have with you!

Have fun!

I want to go to the beach! We're suppose to get snow this weekend...boohoo...As everyone else said sand itself is not much of a problem. Yes plenty of fresh water and shade and suncreen. I will also add make sure you have given your pups their flea protection. Sometimes there can be sand fleas. So remember your bug repellant too!

I took Caney to the beach once a few years ago -- best time of her life!!

The sand probably won't bother them at all. For obvious reasons though you'll want to rinse them off after they are done playing at the beach... to get the salt water and sand off of them.

They can potentially get sunburned, but it's really just the white parts that you have to worry about... for example I see that both your babies have white markings on the bridge of their noses... the hair there is very thin already, so that in combination with lack of pigment makes that area quite susceptible to sunburn. (Be thankful you don't have an ALL white dog in this case ;) :D)

Don't let them drink from the ocean -- it will make them sick! So make sure to bring water bottles and offer it to them very quickly if you catch them trying to drink the salt water.

Have fun and post pictures!! :D
