Is my boy too overweight?

Well my Petsmart does carry Blue Buffalo Lite Chicken & Brown Rice Formula, its got a 3 star....unfortunantly, I can't find EVO anywhere. I've called...the site says its at places near my area that its not. I really wanted to get him that too :( I'll keep looking, but if I dont find it...I am probably gonna go for the Blue Buffalo....

Can you order any of the foods online. I feed my baby Solid Gold and when I want to switch up I feed Wellness. She has a magnificent looking coat and it is as soft as velvet. I always get compliments on it. Welness is a little more exspensive but I really do feed her less. She is at her ideal weight and stays very healthy.

I do not recommend "lite" foods. Typically they are just higher in grains. Get the regular Blue Buffalo (I would NOT use Authority it's a crummy food) and simply feed less, lessen the calories that your dog consumes, add some green beans to help him to feel fuller without the extra calories, no need for "lite" foods they're just a marketing gimmick and are typically less nutritional. The key is less food more exercise, not a different version. Once I realized this and took my girl off the lite foods she dropped weight like crazy (18 pounds in 6 months no exercise).

Blue Buffalo Chicken & Brown Rice for Adults - 4 star

I like that the Blue Wilderness has a 6 star, but I am wondering if it would be good for HIM. Opinions on these choices? Comments?

Take the Blue Wilderness It is more likely to suit a dog needing to lose weight than the other formulas. Blue Buffalo isn't a bad food, but it's high in grain (carbohydrates) and a bit low in meat content. Replacing part of that with vegetables isn't really desirable (as the dog if already getting barely sufficient meat).

Blue Wilderness, on the other hand, appears to be a bit higher in meat content - and lower in carbs. So as well as being a better product, should also be better suited to helping the dog lose a few pounds.

I would reccommend Blue Wilderness tho as a good food

I switched our two over to Blue Wilderness three bags ago (about two months). We've been trying to help Harley get his weight down (hypothyroid). He was somewhere above 85 pounds in March. He's definitely lost a lot of weight and probably has another five or so to go. Roxi looks better than she has in years - slim, glossy coat and a lot more energy. One note - both dogs had some nasty gas in the first few weeks, but are back to normal now.

What I've been doing the last couple of weeks is substituting half his regular portion of dry with half a can of either Wilderness or one of Blue's other canned foods. It's not every meal - probably about 50%. They both enjoy the 'treat' and don't leave anything behind. When we don't use canned, I just add some warm water and it makes a nice gravy.

Next appointment at the vet is 7/30, so I'll have good weight measurements on them and will be able to see where we are and how much farther we have to go.
