Oh no it is the firework time of the year, it is a whole month away and still people are letting of fireworks. I love fourth of July but it drives my dog Crazy. Lilly hates fireworks, it is next to impossible to even get her to go outside during this time of year. I guess maybe thats why she ended up in a rescue, a hunting dog that hates loud noises might not be productive around gunfire. She is glued to my foot right now. Oscar is taking it pretty well, he is running from window to window trying to see what the heck is going on. My brave little man is not afraid of anything except nail clippers. Last year I had to give Lilly doggy valium because she got so upset not eating or sleeping. I want to say that it ACE that my vet gave to me to calm her for this, and car rides. I know I can't give it to my boxer Oscar. Another reason i am so grateful for this place, I might have not thought anything of giving him that when we go on a long car trips. The only time Lilly crawls in bed with me is when there is fireworks going off. With her in my bed I am sure Oscar won't be far behind. I am not looking forward to the next month and a half of uncomfortable sleepless nights.

Yep.. It is the next morning and I am up and hour early. Couldn't sleep with the dogs all over me. Oscar is ok because he sleeps on the end of the bed, but Lilly was right next to. She keeps pushing closer and closer until she pushes me off the bed. I am happy that she comes to me when scaried but I am exhausted.

Its that time of the year again for us too, they started firing off stuff a few weeks ago. So far so good, most have been fired behind my house, and Diesel just jumps up and stairs out the back door, like he wants to see what's going on.

Titus hates fireworks also...he gets really freaked out. Last year my parents watched him while I was out and they ended up putting his crate in their walk in closet in the back, surrounded by clothes to muffle the sounds. I'm not sure it helped much but it was cute that they were so worried.

All the dogs I have ever met hate fire works. When I was younger, it was the 4th of July, and fireworks were going of all around us. My neighbors Saint Benard was as scared of them as Samson is, and he was determined to get inside of our house. Well, after scratching the paint almost completely off of our front door, he managed to open the door, and come inside. It was about midnight, and my dad was getting angry that he couldn't sleep. So, he tried to get that big dog out, but he bolted up and would not go. I couldn't help but to laugh as I watched this hilarious scene. Finally, dad got the dog outside, where it belonged, and we all went to sleep.

Spud's weird...he LOVES fireworks! The noisier the better! We have Guy Fawkes Night here on November 5th and Spud stands at the window, watching the fireworks, nubby a blur the whole time! I must admit I've never had a dog that enjoyed them until now. Poor little Lilly. I hope you don't have too many sleepless nights.

I guess we're pretty lucky.
The fireworks don't start until about a week before the 4'th.

Oh Nooooo

I know exactly how you feel. Luckily the fireworks haven't started to fly yet. Except for the ones they let off on Saturday evenings after the AAA baseball game which isn't until after 10 PM (they have a fainter sound). Hailey is deathly afraid of the fireworks! She also runs around the house hanging out at your feet and if you put the foot up on the recliner...she dives to get under it. She'll hide under the bed. Oh how I hate it for her. She is just in an absolute panic the entire night. God forbid you take her to go potty. The first firework sound and she stops WHATEVER she's doing, crouches down, ears tucked back, and dragging me to the back door. None of the other dogs care about the fireworks, thank goodness. I think I might get something from the vet to keep her calm on the weekend of the 4th. She's a boxer mix so hopefully there be more options for her.

We didnt have Duchess this time of year last year, so i am excited to see her reaction to fireworks. She isnt scared of normal things like the vacuum, loud cars, motorcycles or the boat, but she is scared of spatulas. Only a few weeks left to figure this one out!
