Is it supposed to be this easy? (a bit long)

Jazzy has been with us 3 weeks now - a rescue with a sad history (abandonment in confined conditions that almost led to death). She is settling in so well I am waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Hardly barks after barking like crazy for the first week or so at anything unfamiliar (which everything was).

She & Arthur eat different foods & both listen when I say no as they approach each other's bowls. Drink together from same bowl.

Couple of poops inside when I was at work - which one is responsible who knows?

They play like crazy & then fall down exhaused & snooze. So they are getting exersize without walks.

They are being left inside during the current cold spell, run of the house, never could have left Arthur alone with the run of the house.

The family came over for Thanksgiving 2 days after she moved in & after the initial shock of the the first of my sibling who showed up (6' 9"), she was happy to meet a big bunch of strangers.

What is left is to get my sister over here so she can walk Arthur while I go out with Jazzy - we need to work on walking - she goes nuts over unfamiliar animals & people when on leash. But Arthur's walks are part excersize & part entertainment, he loves to meet new folks & check on the kids he knows in the neighborhood & I hope I can get Jazzy to that point also - or at least to where we can walk without her pulling so hard half the time she is up on her back legs.

Slowly breaking her of excessive face licking. We are working on Off, leave it, & a few other commands.

But all in all - I did not think adopting a troubled girl & introducing her to a new house & doggy companion would be this easy!

She is a sweety!

That sounds exactly like how things were with our Blayne...even down to the excessive face licking. And let me tell you, six months later, she is still the same sweetheart she was when we brought her home. Isn't it just unfathomable how someone could abandon such wonderful animals?

How wonderful for all of you!!!

Odie has been with us for over 2 years and his adjustment period was just as smooth.

He walked in the door and knew he was home....

Glad things are going so well!!!!

That is so great!! It is so sad that the people who had her couldn't see what a wonderful dog she is. I'm glad she found a happy home! :)

You never know. There is nothing that says rescuing has to be hard. It may just be such a relief to her to have a loving, stable environment where she knows that she will always be cared for that she has just fallen right into the routine and is very happy. :)
