I have a 17 month old brindle male named Lebowski. He is 24 1/2 in. to the withers and 68lbs last time I weighed him. I know his dad was very large about 85lbs and his mom was a bit over sized for a female around 65lbs, so Lebowski is already pretty thick already due to his large rib cage, but he not overweight at all. He still has a lot of skin around his neck and hips, and I know he's just now going to start filling out at 18 months. My question is will his head fill out as well because its not so much his head is tiny as much as its dispreportionate to the rest of his body.

Hahahaha! I have a pee-head myself! She is 16 mos old and just now her head is filling out a little bit. But don't expect it to grow much more.

I was reading about the internet and found a boxer site. In that site, they had established that there are three global types of boxers.

1. North American Boxer - Sleek silhouette, smaller head, smoother nose to the forehead, chin is rounded and smooth to neck with neck not having much extra skin, chin may or may not be seen from the side due to the size of the jowls. (Looks more intriqued)

2. European Boxer - Thicker strong sihouette, larger square head, excessively snubbed nose to forehead with a fat roll over the snout, chin is thin and not visible from the side due to the larger jowls, chin to neck having excess loose skin. (Looks more intense)

3. British Boxer - Strong, sleek silhouette, large square head, shorter snubbed snout with extra skin on top of snout, chin is squared and protruding in front with a smooth line to neck, also not visible from the side, neck not having much excess skin. (Kinda looks snobby)

After reading this, it all made sense to me. I think the European Boxer fits the typical beefy boxer shape that we all know. The British boxer seems to be a bit strimlined from the European. And the North American is sleeker and cleaner in lines with a smaller more softer shaped head. Now when I look at other boxers, there certainly is a noticable difference in the shape of the head.

So I think I have a North American style boxer. I wanted a European one who would be my tough girl........but I am so happy with my softer, sweet girl.

Completely Boxer Crazy
I don't know what type of boxer SuzyQ is but her head is quite large and square, I think. I know if we size her collar to slip over her head and ears, it's really big on her neck and just hangs down. We call her a blockhead.

When Bella was younger I would call her pin head because I thought her head looked too small for the rest of her. No one else saw it - just me. She is now 2 years 4 months. I don't know when it happened but her head looks fine to me now. Breeding has a lot to do with the size of everything and I'm sure that once he's all done growing he won't seem out of proportion to you!

Looking at the pics of Roxie, well she definitely looks to be of British global style. She has those cute wrinkles on top of her nose, the square head and the gib of the chin looks like one.

And a damn cute one at that! I just adore her face!

Size of head

I think I have an American boxer too. She is a brindle, weighs about 23KG and most people comment on how little she is. However she is just coming up for 2 and I think she may fill out a bit yet but her pretty little head will stay small. Over our local park there can be as many as 8 boxers over at a time - I think she is the most "active" she runs around so fast she also goes around kissing everyone!! She will lay down and stalk my unsuspecting boxer X then charge him!! Maniacs!! - They certainly love life dont they!! Personality plus I reckon
