Hello... I'll try to make this short and sweet. This is my first posting on here so bare with me.
We have a 1 1/2 year old female that we absolutely adore. When we first got her when she was 9 weeks old we started her out on Wellness puppy formula, but that gave her so bad of gas we had to change her food. Well after that my wife didn't want to go with a natural food so we went with eukanuba large breed puppy and she did great on that. No gas nothing. The only problem was is that she wouldn't eat unless she was starving. Later when she became a year old I decided maybe it was time to put her on an adult food cause she was starting to become all legs. We nicknamed her legs, lol. So I changed her to the eukanuba large breed adult. She did fine on it, no gas but still wouldn't eat unless she had to. About 3 weeks ago I went to petco to re-up on her food and there wasnt any. The store clerk informed me that eukanuba is having manufacturing problems and they recalled a bunch of products. When I heard that I got a little irritated cause she was almost out of food and scared cause who wants to deal with a company that has problems manufacturing. I decided to change her to a higher end food. Well I made a mistake and got talked into buying the royal canin boxer 26 formula. Well i was impressed that she ate it but wasn't impressed that she threw up everytime she ate. I thought maybe I'll give her a couple weeks on it and see how she does. Well up to last night she threw up about every 2 days after she ate. Petco is cool cause they have a 100% food gaurantee so you can take it back if your dog can't eat the food you purchase. So I did just that I took it back. After an hour talking with the person at petco she talked me into buying this Before Grain food. I know it's a good food but they only thing I worry about is that the kibble is pellet size. Has anyone tried this kind of food? Has anyone had any problems with gas or diarrhea? Please any input on this food or my post would be extremely helpful. Thanks

Look at the sticky at the top of the forum. The dog food analysis has great information on dog food. I would recommend feeding a 5 or 6 star dog food .

Before Grain formulas have changed recently. Previously they were 100% meat and a great ADDITION to other foods for their meat content (at least the canned food version was). It was for "supplemental feeding" only at that time. Since then they have changed the formula and consider it a balanced diet.
I used to feed the canned food prior to the formula change as an addition to another brand (Solid Gold Barking at the Moon). My girl loved the combination but when the formula changed I dropped it since she was already eating a balanced diet.
I know the previous version was ranked high. Haven't checked out the new version but Merricks is a pretty good manufacturer.
If you haven't stumbled upon it yet in the forums.....Boxers are NOT a large breed but a medium breed. No need to feed a large breed food. The size/shape of the food isn't the only difference but more so the contents!

I almost bought that for our boys. I think it is rated a 5 star. I didn't end up buying it though instead I went with TOTW Wetlands. The dog food analysis says it's rated higher plus you get 5 more pounds for about the same price as Before Grains.

Yeah I've done a little reading up on it since I bought it and it gets good reviews. It is a 5 star food on dogfoodanalysis. The only downfalls are it's only a 25 pound bag, but when you pick it up it seems a lot heavier than that. It's a heavy 25 pounder. The kibble size scares me too. I don't know but with the kibble being so small (pellet size) you might get more out of it. My girl was eating lastnight and she choked. I need to figure out how to stop her from chowin down so fast. Any suggestions? I heard put rocks in with it but I'm afraid she would just eat the rocks too. We have acorns in our backyard and she seems to like them and chew on em so I don't want to confuse her with rocks. She might break a tooth or something. What's a good wet food?

You could try a tennis ball. I know they make special bowls to slow them down. Petsmart also has a special bowl to put in their bowls. Rowdy would choke all the time and it used to scare me soo bad. Now I put their food on the floor. It makes them slow down everytime they take a bite their food spreads out. You could try putting on a cookie sheet, same concept not as messy. Good Luck!
