Both of my dogs are peeing on the Christmas Tree! I can't get them to stop. One does it then the other will sneek it its like a merry-go-round! They just keep doing it back and forth! CRAZY pups! I've gone through 5 tree skirts in one week (at least it saves the carpet) :)

Oh gosh I am sorry. Our trainer gave us the heads up about this with our puppy. She didn't have much as far as suggestions other than getting an artificial tree or using one of those 'no mark' sprays (though she said they are really stinky which kind of defeats the purpose of having a live tree). When potty training, how conflicting to bring a tree from outside - inside! We went the easy way - not having kids we decided to forego the tree this year. I guess like everything, you should keep an eagle eye on the pups and use the negative marker whenever they get near the tree (and no getting near the tree when Mom or Dad isn't around) It's probably a good idea for the tree to be a no-no anyway given all the stuff they could get into (lights, broken ornaments, not to mention lovely wrapped pressies).

The only problem I see with what is going on now for you is that even though you are cleaning the skirt, they've already scented the tree which is why they are repeatedly coming back to it. I'm not sure whether there is much that can be done - I guess you could turn the tree so they can't get to the spot but I have a visual of your pups trying to get to the back of the tree (I think that is what my boy would probably try to do ;)).

Hope you get some good suggestions!

We didn't put up a tree this year, going on holidays. But I use a product called Shoo to keep Rupert out of my plants. I caught him the other day trying to dig to China in one of my big plants. I sprayed Shoo and he has stayed out of it ever since. I like it because you only smell it when you first spray it.

xmas fun

Well our girl doesn't pee on our tree, but she has managed to "redecorate" it from the middle down. Slowly but surely we noticed ornaments missing, particularly the soft ones...trouble is, most of them are old, handmade, with sentimental value...i'm so mad, but she's just so darn cute hiding under the table with a stuffed santa hanging out of her mouth! anyways, good luck and Happy Holidays to all!! jm.

Frankly, I'd either get rid of the tree or put a fence up around it to stop the dogs getting near it. If you allow the peeing indoors (actually marking indoors) to continue, then it may well continue after the tree is gone...

I don't have skin kids but I SWEAR dogs can be WORSE!!! I don't have a tree this year because we're moving but in the years past, we've had issues. We'd start with a beautifully decorated tree and then slowly it would become bare. Where would the decorations go? Hmmm, I guess Santa really liked them for himself and Mrs Clause. Thankfully I've never had a real one so I don't have pee problem. I don't know what to say about that, other than I'm sorry, chuckle chuckle. :) It just wouldn't be the holiday's without some crazy Boxer behaivor!
