Is 8 hours a day too long to crate?

I agree Pierpont

I agree 100% with you Pierpont...the "take a chill pill" comment was made purely to try to lighten up this whole controversary and not to be condescending. I have argued my point into the ground regarding crating for 8 hours and believe me I'm done arguing. I have been attacked for my opinion since day one, (including rather vicious private emails) so feel it's only fair to say that I was getting quite purturbed over all of this. I'm through with it now. Done. Finished. Enough. You can comment about my "take a chillpill" statement of course, but being called a hypocrite and eluding to other names as well, I felt very angry. I came into this website to learn and of course because of my love of the Boxer Breed, not to be attacked at every turn. It's too bad my feelings toward this website have been contaminated somehow...In regard to the crating issue...it needs to be dropped now...politics, religion, and crating should not be discussed in this forum! Everyone in here loves their animals and are doing the best they can to give them that love...this forum is to help each other learn how to better care for them along the way. Advice, opinions, experiences, "take what you need, and leave the rest..." That's how I see it. Take care,

Politics and religion may be discussed in the Non-Boxer Forum, within reason. Crating should always be open to discussion as there will always be people who have questions / opinions :)

I would like to think that is how everyone sees it - I certainly hope so anyway :)

Note to everyone:

There have been quite a few posts to this thread I considered pushing the limits regarding Forum guidelines and general good manners, however, not having recieved any complaints from board members, decided to leave the posts stand - as I am sure the other moderators did. If anyone has any complaints our email addresses are listed at the top of the boards and it is better that we be contacted privately rather than via the board as it is 'off topic' to a certain extent.

Here is a reminder about some Forum Guidelines:

Discussion is welcome - flaming and personal attacks are not permitted. Members should not use the list to generate arguments. Arguments that get out of hand will be stopped by the administrators and members can be unsubscribed at any time by the administrators if there continues to be a
problem.

I know that we have seem the same opinions stated in many different ways, by many different people, and this thread is going in circles, but everyone is entitled to have their say, as long as it is done with thought about what is written (as so much can be misinterpreted over the internet), and with due respect to the feelings of other people :)

crating issues

I'm overly grateful for this board and will continue to be an active member, all discussions are helpful. I've gained so much knowledge and personally think this has been a great discussion about crating. I'll bet the orginator was kind of surpised about how much this discussion grew.

I also enjoy discussing politics and religion when someone wants too..
