Boxer Booster
Just wanted to say Hi to all! This is positively the best and most informative and board I've ever seen. I've actually been reading for about a year now, but finally got registered. I have learned so much and cried many a time with all.
We have two boxers - Taz is a brindle, neutered, natural ears and docked tail. He was given to us when he was 12 wks old by our daughter. After him, we knew no other breed would ever do. About a yr ago we adopted Maggie (fawn, now spayed, natural ears and docked tail) from the Chester County SPCA in PA. She apparently had been on her own for a while and had had several litters. The poor baby had absolutely no personality, no clue of what being a boxer is. It has been a great joy over the last yr. to watch the greatest personality emerge. She only has one thing that we haven't been able to get past. She is still terrified of just about everyone who comes to our house.(except children) You can tell she is trying very had to be social, she will sometimes come up to a visitor from the back and lick them, once she sees that we are friends with them. If they don't actuall make eye contact with her, she may stay near, but if they try to talk to her or pet her, off she runs. She will come back again. She's really trying to be friendly.
We think she was possibly a breeder that escaped as when we first got her we saw her try to eat bugs and she would like the bushes for water. She's also terrifyed of flashlights at night.
With us, she is now totally all boxer. Kidney beans, upside down with all four feet in the air and loves to play.
We just moved to a 7 acre farmette and are thinking about fostering possibly.
I just can't get enough of these dogs. Just met a neighbor down the road that has 4 boxers and there's a development in back of our property and met a guy with 2 boxers. Just imagine 8 boxers within a mile.
Anyway, sorry so long, just love this board.
