I got my second boxer 2 weeks ago with no regrets ;)
I won't lie, it's ALOT of work but the work doesn't last forever. Harley was alot of work at first too. This is my first time living on my own, yet owning not just 1 but 2 dogs and I'm still sane (so far ;) ). The only mess mine make is leaving toys lying around & they are messy eater, food all over the house. And I am a perfectionist when it comes to my house.
I figured Harley would get along with a puppy because he's been around other cats & dogs since the day I got him with no problems. At first I think he thought Zoe was just another toy I brought home but then he realized she was a dog & here to stay LOL He was a bit jealous at first but it's obvious he loves his new sister & he's thrilled to have someone to play with.
Zoe is learning alot from Harley too, good & bad  She's ringing the bell to go out to potty already, after 2 weeks, but that doesn't mean she goes outside every time hehehe Plus they really wear each other out. I noticed Harley had alot of energy & I couldn't keep up with him so she picks up the slack so to speak.
2 are definately better than 1!!

Super Boxer
I have two females (fixed) and have never had a problem with aggression, unless they are left alone with bones too long (it seems their limit is about 20 minutes of semi-supervised time before Tess ruins it). Tess is definetly the alpha, but she adapted to having a puppy in the house pretty quickly. She was very gentle with play when Tenaia was small - the worst she ever did (which was actually really funny) was let go of the rope toy and send Tenaia sailing across the room into the sofa! The other hilarious thing she'd do was get on her back, get Tenaia to stradle her, and then get all fours under Tenaia's belly and launch her across the room - Tenaia being part cat I swear always landed on her feet! Tess still tries to do the launch but Tenaia is 56 pounds now so it doesn't work so well.:D

Now that there are two dogs, there isn't so much that gets destroyed from boredom or whatever since they keep each other company and all, and it really isn't any more work than having just one. Two leashes instead of one, but hey, that is why I have two arms right? I do have less room for myself on the bed though, but at least I'm never cold or lonely.

Im at work so I don't have too much time to read every entry. Just wanted to say if you do get another dog, have the new dog and Kasie meet in neutral ground - like at a new park that Kasie has'nt gone to or something like that. That way, Kasie won't feel like she has to defend her home right off, and she gets time to meet and play with the new family member.

Second dog

I couldn't imagine not having my 2 girls they are wonderful. Although it was interesting the first few nights. Britnee sleeps with me and didn't want anybody else to so it was a ruff night (pun intended):D But they are the best of friends now. The only thing I am very funny about is putting them in their cage when we leave. They tore up things before we had the kennel. Now we kennel them when we are gone and they stay out of trouble (they are kenneled together). I would honestly think about that. Otherwise GO FOR IT! You will love it. Two are just as good as one. As far as the female/male thing. I am partial to girls I don't know why but it is pretty much whatever you want. Boys are bigger (usually) my girls are small 40-45lbs each. But a friend of mine had a female and she is 90lbs:eek: Good luck with whatever you decide. Jaimie

Mom to 3 skin kids Kelsey 7, Jake 5, and Kayla 2:D

Mom also to Britnee (female fawn with black mask and cropped ears born 12-24-94); Baylee (brindle female with natural ears born 1-1-96)

Two boxers cost double. (especially for food;) ) I rescued my second boxer and at first she was not warming up to us and my dog Seth. I've now had her for almost seven monthsappicon and she's great! She has turned into a new dog which is hard for a 4 year old to do! My dogs get along great although there are still some jealousy issues with Seth:rolleyes: . They spend alot of time playing with eachother which gives me more time to do other things. I completely recommend it, it has helped in so many ways especially the seperation anxiety Seth has. (They're always together so he's never alonewormicon)

Just have patience especially with a new puppy. I'm sure you'll reap the rewards!

For your other question, I'm not sure he will be too happy about your request but bring your dog with you just for an initial reaction to see if they could be friends. Boxer rescue will have no problem adopting a puppy! (but you might not get your money back on that one)

Good luck! :)

Hello and welcome! We just went through this this past summer. We got our 2nd boxer puppy in June when our adult boxer was 2 and a half years old. We knew Didi would be good with a boy or a girl boxer because we have had her around a lot of other dogs and she is around her boxer "cousin" a lot. It is A LOT of work in the beginning especially if you go the puppy route. We had to constantly supervise them both in the beginning beings our little guy only weighed 6 lbs. when we got him and Didi weighs 56 lbs. Even with that, there were a couple little mishaps, but nothing serious. When Duke got bigger to fend for himself more, things got better and now they are the best of friends. They play and run and do everything together! We are so glad that we have them both and wouldn't trade either one for anything. But yes, it is more work, more money, etc. I would say if you know for sure that your other dog gets along well with other dogs, then you shouldn't have any problems. Good luck with whatever you chose to do. Paula

Is owning 2 dogs at the same time much more difficult then owning one? We are very clean and neat people and currently our house is well kept....which I want it to remain that way.

Thanks for your reply!!! Brent

I have to tell you, if you think that way, you are missing out. Scrapper is absolutely the sweetest dog I've ever owned. I've had males and I've had females, and the males just are extra affectionate and cuddly. Half the population of the world in any given species is male and they all have penises. It's not a big deal.

As far as your house goes, well, I have white carpet and I'm constantly working on it to keep it nice. But I have kids, a husband, Scrapper, (I've had two dogs before) and a cat, too, and I realize that when you are old and gone and they are standing at your grave, they won't remember you by saying "She had the cleanest house..."

But, welcome to BoxerWorld, it's a great place.
