Oh my gosh! It was his ring. How funny. I love how kids are so honest. I hope the man enjoys opening the jar and cleaning the ring but you can bet he will make his wife do it. What an _SS.

See, maybe I'm just not that nice, but I would have said that if he wanted the ring back he could grow up and come get it himself. Otherwise I would have just kept it as payment for the many more times you'll probably clean up their dogs poo. OR I would say that he'd get it back after they proved they dewormed the dog. It's one thing not to clean up the poo, but it's a whole other thing to not clean up wormy poo. Other dogs can get that! Not cool. I'm no genius, but I have a hard time with stupid people who have no intention to learn.

Good job on being the bigger person. It takes a lot for me to be that person.

... dad's wedding ring was missing. The parents got into a fuss because neither wanted to come get it. The son said that the ring was really expensive and has real diamonds in it. I gave him the jar (air tight) that I had put the baggie in. Someone is going to be faced with quite a smell when the jar is opened!!! I feel better knowing that it was the man's ring.

You do truly have class. You handled it beautifully. Unfortunately, that man is a prize jerk, and his son had to come and handle his problem. UGH! Wanna bet the son also has to open the jar and clean the ring? Or the wife? We'll never know of course, but the man is just so clearly a pain. I wish he would have come with his wife, apologized and asked for it themselves. But alas...until we run the world.....

In the meantime I'm sure you will continue to find womy piles on the base. Nothing good is likely to happen for that rottie either. Very sad all the way around. And frustrating as well.

Again, you handled very well. I applaud your attitude and continued efforts to take the high road. Not at all easy, but clearly easier to sleep at night.

I like Karens idea.

I would also check the local paper's lost and found section and see if there is a reward for it first.

Does it appear to be a wedding band?

I have started picking up all of their poop piles (quite obvious since all other dogs besides mine are of the smaller breeds). Well, today I noticed that not only does their dog have worms, it also ate a gold ring. I picked the ring out and tied it up in a seperate poop baggie. Should I go up to them and offer it back, or would that be an insult? It would go something like this "I found this ring in a pile of your dog's crap that you 'forgot' to pick up."

What do you guys think I should do?
Personally I'd keep the ring in the poop bag and keep it as evidence that it's not your dogs that aren't being picked up after.
