Inside or outside while at work?

Boxer Pal
Thanks!

Thank you all for the advice! I will be keeping Brando inside while at work and am looking for a dog walker or daycare. I love the doggy door idea except I rent and my french doors that open to the back yard are glass. I'm picking up Brando this weekend and he is 3 years old to those who asked. Looking forward to sharing stories with you all.

Completely Boxer Crazy
I'm glad you decided to keep the dog inside! Boxers aren't outside dogs, as many have already said. I would work on crate training him, providing toys, Nylabones, stuffed kongs, etc. to entertain him. A bored boxer can be a very destructive boxer! At least two long, brisk walks a day will be needed to give him enough exercise to expend the energy a boxer has. I look forward to that, when Brodie's had all his shots - it'll get my sorry butt off the couch and outside!

I have a 12 week old boxer puppy, and I crate him when I'm at work. I have hired a pet sitter to come at lunch time, and it's worked out great! I was dreading paying the money (I pay $17 per day), but it's SO worth it to know my little one won't have to go potty in his crate (dogs don't like soiling the area where they sleep)! The poor baby isn't old enough to be able to hold it all day, and he would have a really hard time being in his crate all day anyway, esp. at his age.

My pet sitter texts me after her visit every day to let me know how he did, if he pooed, if his crate was dry, etc. She knows where his other bed is if he pees/poops in his crate (neither has happened yet!), and she'll replace it, after cleaning the crate. When Brodie gets older (he hasn't had all his puppy shots yet), she'll take him for a short walk each day. Right now, she just walks him around my fenced in backyard, at my request. We talk each Sunday to discuss any changes for the upcoming week.
