It appears that my 8-month old boxer has a terrible insect allergy. Does anyone know anything I can do to keep mosquitoes away from him?

Thanks in advance for any advice...

Andre :( :( :(

Also try to prevent them from being in your yard...I know that's not entirely in your control, but remember that even a small amount of standing water becomes a breeding ground for mosquitos, so look around for anything that might collect water and get rid of it (like a bird bath, empty flower pot, poorly draining area, etc.) My sister's boxer is also allergic - he swells up a lot when anything bites him. She always make sure she has benedryl around so she can give him that if he's reacting to something. You should probably do the same thing.

Andre,

During the spring and summer I use garlic powder over my dogs' food. (Four boxers and a beagle)

If you're just feeding dry you can drizzle a little olive oil over the dry and then sprinkle the garlic powder and just mix it around a bit. My dogs seem to like it and I honestly never have any flea, mosquito or any type of buggie problems and I am in Florida where they all live!
There's also a website:
http://www.springtimeinc.com/live/default.asp that sells natural products for dogs, horses, etc. just for these problems. If you check it out you can see the types of ingredients they use for specific things.

Hope it helps your little guy!

Spray

Thanks everyone. I think the first thing I will try is the spray. He really swells up a lot - last time I had to run to the vet...

I hope the spray works...
