Hi All,
I have been doing research on various dry foods and decided to switch my 8 month old to Innova. I did this gradually over a 2 week period and she has been on Innova for about a month now and she devours it! The only problem is that she has developed some terrible smelling gas! I know that its pretty common with boxers and she has always had a little gas here and there, nothing too bad, but lately it has just been so foul smelling that we run out of the room practically gagging!

I don't know if the Innova causes it but has any one else had any issue with this brand, or any experiences with bad gas in general, that could give me some advice? I would prefer to have her on a raw diet but I don't know of any wholesale butchers near me (simi valley, ca-ventura county). Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I give both of my Boxers ProZyme as well as an acidophilus capsule with each meal and we no longer have any gas whatsoever. Once in awhile I HEAR my boy, but I never smell him.

I never could get the regular Innova to work out for Lola as much as I tried. It also gave her horrible, clear the room gas plus loose stools. I really wanted it to work because I trust the company and the ingredients are great. However, it just didn't work out for her. I'm having better luck with grain-free. I'm currently feeding her Orijen with Evo 95% meat cans and the results have been fantastic. I tried the turkey/chicken Evo dry and it was too rich for her (caused gas and loose stools). I had some luck with the Evo Red Meat but I guess I didn't give it much of a chance before switching to the Orijen. It has taken A LOT of experimentation to find a food that causes the least amount of gas (she always has some gas so it's just a matter of how much and how stinky). With the Innova, I did try probiotics and digestive enzymes but unfortunately, it didn't help in our case. I hope that you're able to find a combination that works.

Since Mya is still a bit too young for most of the grain-free foods, you could always try a food that is a bit more simple such as California Natural (made by the same company that makes Innova). This would be a lot less rich than the Innova and I know that they make a couple of puppy formulas. In terms of Grain free, you can wait until after she's a year old or Orijen makes a grain-free puppy food. Good luck!
