Kim. my vet believes in givng a variety of protein so beef in the AM and chicken in the PM is good, that's how I feed mine, variety. Dogs with allergies should be on a variety of meats. We people are so used to feeding the same brand of dog food everyday sometimes for the rest of a dog or cats life and that's when allergy problems start. So vets tell you to feed duck and potatoe, venison and potatoe, they have rabbit dog food, ostrich pretty soon they will go back to beef and chicken

I think one of the reasons my vet doesn't like mix proteins is because so many premade foods are on the market and a lot of them mix proteins like the kibble foods. I have a fussy old rescue boxer and he likes chicken and turkey, he is not to fond of red meat so sometimes i disguise it in his chicken or sprinkle some freeze dried chicken over his food and that usually works for him. I'll let you know when my vet arrives for the seminar her opinion on mixing proteins. But I feel even if the protein is mixed if it is raw or cooked meat it's better then dry dog food.
