I noticed this morning that zeb had a creamy discharge coming out of his willy this morning, I just wondered if anyone had any ideas what it is?

I've made an appointment at the vets and we go tomorrow morning. It was so funny booking it as I rang at breaktime and everyone was in the staff room, I tried to say it as quiet as possible but the receptionist kept saying she couldn't hear me. Then when I said it louder they all went 'umm lovely Tracey' as they sat drinking their cups of tea

i just wondered if anyone has had anything similar with their dogs?

Elvis gets this some mornings, but not all the time just odd days, I know this is really gross but one time (because he was on my sofa) i wiped it off and it was a slight greeny colour. But it has never effected him like he has never licked it!

Luka has this most of the time, it's really eeky, it gets stuck on his tummy sometimes. The vet said it was quite normal and would disappear once he was neutered :)

Tracey..I can't offer any advice here, I've only ever had bitches, so obviously they don't have the same 'plumbing' or problems as Zeb..but just wanted to say that I hope everything is O.K...You creased me..I can imagine you trying to to whisper surreptitiously down the phone about the poor little mans condition...only to have a full audience hanging on your every word ..poor Zeb would be So embarrassed if he knew!!

Haha!!

Oh no the doodle oodle!!! haha!! My Kirby get's it too!! I had it all down my sweater the other day! I was so grossed out!! I know it's normal, my pug has it too, and he is 4 yrs now. As much as I would like to say that it will go away after neutering, Rigg's (pug) still gets it every once in awhile. I think it's a guy thing, they always have the ewwy stuff!! Best of Luck!!!

So I'm going to the vets tomorrow to pay out X amount of money for them to tell me it's normal ~ oh poo.
I've never had a male pet before, I didn't know this happened. They'll either think I'm a berk or make me part with my money 'just in case' it's an infection :(

Pus like discharge

I took Ali to the vet a couple a days ago for an exam and I asked the vet about a pus like discharge that was coming from his dingy. The vet stated that this is called "smegma" and is a normal discharge for males. The vet who is female had a big smirk on her face (only kidding), but that is how she explained it to me. Hope this helps.

Reilly (neutered male) had this happen about 6 mos. ago, but we were already on our way for a vet appointment for something else, so I just had this looked at while we were there. It was diagnosed as a very mild infection. They did a "sheath irrigation" which is where they took a small syringe and irrigated with saline. Then the doc squirted an ointment (can't remember the name of it) into the sheath. He told me to just watch it and to just keep the area clean. If there were any more problems he'd put Reilly on an oral antibiotic. So far, so good...no more "dingy" problems. Hee.
