Boxer Buddy
Hi -- as a mom to 4 skin kids and one boxer babe -- I rarely post -- but have a question re: my baby Boogie. I noticed she yelped when I touched her foot the other day -- and noticed she had a bruised looking toenail. She had to go into the vet anyway to get her sutures from her spay removed -- so I had her take a look. She said the nail is infected probably as a result of trauma (Boogie runs the backyard like she is possessed!!) Our vet said she hates to see these infections b/c they can spread to the other nails and the bone -- so she's on antibiotics for a month. Has anyone else experienced this with their boxers? Is there anything else I can do? It's not slowing her down -- although it must be painful since she yelps when we touch it.
Second -- she had some incontinence of urine the past few days -- and then it seemed to hurt when she peed. So, I brought in a urine specimen too -- which showed a UTI. How could she have gotten this? She was fine after her spay -- which was a little over two weeks ago. i notice when she pees, she does usually have a drop of urine that clings to her "bottom" -- it's been like this since we got her at 9 weeks. Could this have caused the infection? Hate to be neurotic -- but do I need to be wiping her bottom every time after she pees?
