I've tried to search this topic on a few boards, but I'm not finding anything. If I missed it, please direct me to the correct place.

I'm looking for any Holistic options for treating Indolent Ulcers. Bella was diagnosed with one almost two weeks ago. We tried the plasma, antibiotic drops, along with the lovely "satellite dish." There was no improvement so we went to the ophthalmologist and he did the kerototomy (sp?). Bella is miserable. I would be too. She's on the pain eye drops, another eye drop, eye ointment and Doxy. Plus, she takes thyrosin everyday.

Any herbs or anything that would help with healing or even the pain? She has little to no appetite. It makes me so sad to see her in such discomfort.

Sidenote: I have fed raw since around 2004. I switched back to kibble because I've been trying to exercise and cook more for myself and it was just not easy to get to the store as much as I was. Bella and Ory never had medical problems. I got snide looks and remarks at the vet, but they never found a thing wrong with my pups. Not even three months since switching to kibble, Bella gets this ulcer. I'm trying to do some research on that as well to see if they can somehow be related. Lowering her immune system? Or something.

Anyway, thank you for reading.

My Ali had an indolent ulcer about 3 years ago. It was a pretty yucky experience for all of us.

My dog seemed to be pretty uncomfortable the first 2-3 days, but once it started to heal, she seemed much better. She seemed more upset by the e-collar.

I couldn't suggest any new supplements or supports for pain, but if might help her heal to start putting her back toward raw while she is healing from this. I ended up going from my kibble back to raw following Ali's surgery.

I think I will. I don't want to switch to raw right now because she still has the satellite dish (cone) around her neck. I'd be worried that she'd get sick. I try to clean it with water and a light cleaner, but because it's in her face I don't want to use anything too strong. The moment I take it off her she's rubbing her eye.

But, for the sake of her and her brother who has never had an issue, I think i'll switch back to raw.

And to add to all this, she got an infection after the keratotomy. Talk about disgusting! She's now on a pain eye drop, two eye drop antibiotics, plasma and an oral antibiotic. That is also freaking me out because I'm wondering what it's doing to her system.

Anyone know if I can give her a probiotic? I take them, but imagine that would probably be too strong. Any other suggestions holistic/herb/mineral - wise?

This is not holistic but I remember my vet giving something to numb the eye that was long lasting. Maybe your vet can help you out? We also had drops I think they were called Remend that healed it quickly after his keratectomy. I have a post somewhere. Search for Woody.

Sending healing vibes. We are just a few months out from this ordeal. I know how difficult is was for all. Woody was initially so good for his drops. He would come and drop into a sit for his drops like a good boy. The last couple weeks he had had enough. He would still come and sit but instead of facing me it would be his butt facing me. He was frustrated too.
