Today we said a most tearful farewell to our dear friend, beloved companion. Our buddy Indy.
In the past week it was increasingly clear how much worse his legs and hips were getting. Sweet boy wanted to play, but watching him try to run down the hill in the yard, stumble and fall was heartbreaking. In the house was actually worse. It was time.
We spent the morning outside together. He got so many tummy rubs, lots of chat time, snuggles and all of his favorite treats. He very quickly figured out that he would get whatever he wanted and it was a sort of game for those few hours.
Fortunately, our vet makes house calls. This meant that Indy didn't have the stress of sliding on the very slippery floors at the vets office. I am so very grateful for their compassionate and gentle care of all animals.
We'll miss our sweet boy. The house seems so quiet without him. It's been a very tearful day, but then again, he's well worth each and every moment of crying. He brought so many smiles and laughs to us for almost 11 years. We have been blessed.
