Happy ending to a long story
Well, my breeder called me a couple weeks ago as someone had called her with a 2 year old female that they needed to place ASAP (were moving into military housing that Friday). Other than that breeder knows nothing about these people or the dog. So I go and check her out.
I get there and meet the dog. She is lovely, sweet, adorable, breeder bred (dew claws were removed correctly) not phenomenal but cute with all the chrome, very well behaved with her kids & cats

) !!), great with people (wife said she was a bit scared of her so I tested her for people aggression and she passed with flying colors - just a rambunctious boxer 2 yo). They didn't really say much else about her.
I take her to the vet immediately before brining her home to my dog to make sure everything was kosher and to have him look at a cloudy eye she had (ulcer on her eye from a cat scratch, no big deal, will heal fine). So while there we dog tested her on the sweetest most milk toast dog around. And she failed!!!!!! She tried to kill the other dog. Spitting, snarling, couldn't get at the dog fast enough. Not cute boxer play fighting, I mean nasty. The vet (who treats most the boxers in San Diego it seems) was worried for me. He was worried for my welfare as well as the welfare of my dog at home (the whole reason I need another dog).
So I take her home and think that I can make this work. I'll crate her while she's getting used to him, then we take her out and put him out side and they can get to meet through the door. I tried to introduce them through the fence and she was a snarling, spitting, teeth bearing, white eyed beast denting the fence with her head while my dog was in his yard moved backwards about 40 feet and just stood there looking at me for help. Then he just left as she got progressively worse. I have never seen a boxer act like this - ever!!! I gave it 3 days and had to admit defeat as my 10 yo was becoming very stressed, not behaving like himself at all, withdrawing. Sad.
I had remembered the original family told me that they tried Boxer Rescue but the lady said she was full, so I didn't bother. I called every "good" shelter I could (Helen Woodward, Rancho Coastal, etc all do good work, place dogs responsibly and are no-kill) but none of them wanted anything to do with me. At my wits end and at 4 days and my dog was down right depressed I called our local boxer rescue to explain the situation. I was afraid she'd be totally misunderstood in a shelter as she was a WONDERFUL dog, very sweet, playful, funny, loving, attentive, bouncy, GREAT DOG! But just not with other dogs. Well, Alice is an angel and didn't hesitate in taking her in. Not one second. And she's not even that full. But the best part is that she is very experienced at this situation and has 98.9% been able to turn the dog around and make it happy and socialized.
So I left her there 10 days ago and just called Alice today to see how it was going for the girl and she said everything is going wonderfully and that she's been a sweetheart to work with, has gotten used to the other dogs so that they can be together and best yet - she's going to her new forever home tomorrow!!!!!!!! This lady and her young daughter have been calling Alice for a while now looking for a boxer, but she hasn't quite had what they required. So the lady came over to meet her the other day and it was love!! I'm so happy! I feel a bit defeated that I couldn't "fix" her and make her happy with my dog when she was so great with us (particularly protective/attached to me), but I know when I'm in over my head and thanks to the great work of Boxer Rescue San Diego she will be going home and will have her own little girl to love.
