Zoey did this the day before Christmas Eve. I received a call from my BF, telling me I needed to leave work right away as the alarm company had called and were sending the police. I raced home (40 minutes). All I could think of was that the noise was either going to make her deaf or just freak her out.

Once I got home, there weren't any police, good sign, because this means she has "escaped" her pen. (We set up a 7x7x4 outdoor pen in our finished basement.) but now I'm thinking please, please let Zoey be ok. Once I got into the house, I called for her and she did not come. I walked into the living room and there she was, all curled up in her bed. I checked house and she didn't chew or eat anything. I'm thinking she knew she "escaped" that was enough for one day.

Lol

I loved all your funny stories; our fur babies are so funny! The most rewarding part of BW is we can share our stories with each other and understand how it feels to be a boxer owner....tee hee.

Update: I can't get the garbage smell out of the house. Soooo, we are going to have to clean the carpets professionaly. Silly boy!

Samson, got out once of his crate once. It was probably my fault, I was in a hurry and didn't double check and make sure that the crate was latched. I came home to find toliet paper all over the house. He would grab it and run apparently. He took it out of our two upstairs bathrooms and the downstairs bathroom. Thats all he did. I was gone for about a half hour and I come home and he laying on the couch with a piece of tp stuck to his foot. He looked so guilty. But now, since he had SO MUCH fun being out, he won't go back into his crate. He will hide or just not listen. It seriously take us 10 minutes to get him into his bed!

Silly Dog!

PS: I know he would never eat the couches because he likes them too much!

Just because of stories like this in Boxer World, Cisco has never been left out of his crate when I am not home! Poor you!
I guess I'm lucky that he has not gotten out on his own! You need a lock on that crate!

Hailey is definately an escape artist. When I started crating Jasmine and Hailey together she as gotten much calmer and doesn't mind being crated. But I definately have to put 3 clips around the door (the ones that start with a "c"). Instead of a motion detector we got the glass breaks with the alarm system. Well, one day dh calls and said the alarm company called. I race home worrying the whole 10min away. No police- so I walk all the way around the house to make sure someone wasn't still in there. I go in, check the alarm for the zone...it was in the sunroom. I go there check the door and all windows and nothing. I guess Jasmine and Hailey was playing so hard that the knocked the wall and rattled the windows. Needless to say I was relieved to see that everyone was ok.

All figured out...

I guess that when I put Deeg in the crate, I did not get both latches locked. I watched him recently try to escape again, he pushes down on the bottom rim of crate under the door so that the door latch lifts up and sets him free. Now, I double check to make sure both latches are hooked tightly. He loves his crate so I am not sure if he just enjoyed the challenge of trying to get out or if he wanted to go "bye-bye" with me. He is so smart that it blows my mind away sometimes.

After a horrible episode in which Beau destroyed everything in my purse, I became wise enough to keep everything out of his reach. My brother, however, is not as in tune. One day when he was dogsitting, he opened the cake holder on my counter to get a piece of cake, he turned around to get something out of the cabinet while leaving the cake unattended. When he turned back around, Beau had the remaining half of the cake (with multi-colored sprinkles) on the floor eating it. He laughed and let him have his snack. He now places everything out of Beau's reach, too.

My big dog (almost 3yr) taught my pup (7mos) how to go "trash digging". Every morning, never fails you would have to pick up something that she tore up. So for Christmas, hubby got us a wonderful stainless steel "step" trash can to keep the dogs out. OMG!! The best $80.00 that man ever spent! They have not yet figured out how to step on it to open it, probably for the better.

I feel better reading about your friends. The other day, Mario was left to his own devices in the dining room and kitchen while we were out. Silly us. We came home and I ran to the door as my wife yelled "Oh my God!" (and some other things) as she looked through the window. I walked in and saw shredded diapers, tissues, metalic confetii, stuffed animals, slippers, and some garbage all over the dining room table, floor and sideboard. My poor two-year-old stood in the entryway yelling "He ate-a my diapy!" over and over. Needless to say, everyone left me to clean it up. After I got done, I realized I still hadn't seen the perpetrator. He was in his crate, trying to hide.

All I could say to him was, "You knew you did the wrong thing. If you were stupid and just sat there, I couldn't be angry, but you knew what you did was wrong."

That's all.
